My girlfriend and I have been coming to this place for years and we're usually big fans. Lately we've been less impressed but kept going. Tonight was the end of it.
We showed up for my birthday dinner with her and her parents. It was just before 6pm on a Thursday evening. Besides our table there were at the time two other tables of people indoors, and two other tables of people outdoors on the patio. It was much quieter than usual, we assumed because summer bbq weather. We were seated quickly, and they took our orders quickly. Great.
Then it falls apart.
One of us orders a salad, another orders a different type of salad. One of us orders wings, fries and a coke. I ordered the All You Can Eat wings and a beer.
Now I initially asked if there were any beer specials on, I recalled that from the website. The waitress said no. Fine, I ordered whatever. After she left, we turned one of the table top ad's over and I saw the $6.99 beer special that I saw from the website. Ok. Fine. Moving on.
After 10-15 minutes the waitress comes and says the wing sauce I ordered isn't available. Thats fine, I swapped it out with a less spicy alternative. 5 minutes later the food arrives.
The two salads were both partially wrong. One asked for dressing on, the other asked for dressing on the side, it was mixed up. Still, no big deal.
The real issue here is we have nothing to eat with. When the food arrives we ask if we can have cutlery, napkins, and the side dishes and wet naps that come with wings. It took over ten minutes for that to arrive. By this point everyone's getting fairly antsy as we're hungry, and our food is right in front of us.
(Oh, side note here, she gave us seconds of drinks. That was nice. No one asked for that.)
I guess the wing people could have eaten, but a napkin is nice and its rude to eat while the others can't. We had to finally flag our waitress down after she disappeared into the back for a whole and ask again, we finally ate 10 minutes after our food arrived.
She came around again and asked how we were doing, most of us were done. I asked for the next instalment of wings. I asked for a basket of the spicy garlic parm, and the sweet spicy Asian, I forget the name, its one of the spicier ones.
And then we wait. By this point everyone is well done, our drinks (the original ones) empty. It's been nearly 30 minutes and she finally shows up with the wings. I asked for two separate baskets of those wings, sauce on.
She brought one basket of wings, no sauce, instead the sauces in two very small cups beside the wings. She said the kitchen couldn't do my order as I'd asked. No explanation as to why or why not. They had the wings. They had sauce, at least some sauce, that was definitely not enough sauce to cover the wings as Id asked. Were they short on baskets and plates? Why did it take THAT LONG to tell me and by that point its too late? No explanation.
Frustrated at this point we just asked if we could have a take out container for the wings and the bill. She offered lids to the sauce cups, yes please.
We got our bill, paid and left in a hurry. We debated not leaving a tip but we couldn't bring ourselves to do that. We hoped our sour faces and rush to leave would express our disappointment, failing that then a bad review will do.
We mostly don't understand the problems, whatever it was wasn't explained. They couldn't have been overworked, it was largely empty and they seemed to have staff about. But excessive wait times and constant inaccuracies abound.
Oh, and finally, right on the AYCE wing special, theres a contest to win a wing poncho. There was no given method to win this nor no offer from the staff.
Was anything advertised...
Read moreChristmas eve, we took relatives from away to eat the BBQ burger and wings we raved about having several times before. Normally we get our wings within a 10 to12 min window as an appetizer, and then the burgers come guesstimating no longer than 10 mins after finishing our wings or even sooner. This time, we ordered the same, but waited 42 minutes. At this point we were annoyed and hungry, especially for how darn loud the tvs were, and no offer of drink fill ups or check ins; I proceeded to get up to ask when our food was coming. The server then brought the food out, all in one shot.... needless to say, the 2 Ibs of wings were burned to brown colored crispiness, dry as a bone, and the burger buns were burnt, charred burnt! I asked the server if these wings were over cooked, and she said " oh no, thats how we cook em"... Really?? Dried out, overcooked wings is what St Louis BBQ is famous for?? The buns... wow even a blind man could see that they were charred. 1. We order this same option quite often. Why didn't we receive our appetizer first? Why were the burgers so small compared to every other time? The place was nearly empty, what the heck was going on back there? Why did I have to chase food down after 40ish minutes, we've never had this issue numerous times before during very busy times. Needless to say, I was embarrassed raving about the food, and my parents couldn't hear a darn thing being said as it was far too loud in the place!! We tipped good, really good... because that's what my dad does.. but I am complaining because we spend alot at St Louis BBQ dartmouth. What the heck was going on?.. The servers were busy chatting with young men sitting at a table.. We won't come back.. I'll spread the word to our baseball teams too....
Read moreI wanted to email to express my extreme disappointment with my order tonight. The restaurant was busy and they were short staffed, but despite that the wait staff were great. Apologized for the wait, which was actually quite short! And they did accommodate my special instructions. They were very pleasant. However, the food was poorly packaged and poorly cooked. I ordered Margherita chicken tacos. One tortilla was burnt, one was not grilled at all. I asked for nacho chips instead of veggie sticks. I always order nacho chips and they come with salsa and sour cream. The chips were stale and I had no salsa or sour cream. I ordered wings with sauce on the side. The sauce had no lid, and spilled everywhere, leaving me with very little sauce. I asked for veggie sticks on the side. These have always come with a dip. No dip was provided. The wings were very dark and dry. The ribs were delicious. The only item properly cooked and packaged. We have ordered from st louis many times, and eaten in, all good experiences. Tonight was an expensive meal and over half went in the garbage. Tracy
