This restaurant certainly has the potential to be my new favourite sushi place in the HRM.

The restaurant is spacious, modern, and clean. I loved the fires over the sushi bar and the mosaic walls.

The food arrived scary fast - which was great because we were super hungry. My tongue however fell victim to the spring rolls which were super hot (they were delicious once they had cooked!). The portions for the non-sushi items were big, but I was surprised by how small my avocado rolls were.

The menus and accuracy of the orders could use some work - I really didn’t like that the menus didn’t have descriptions for the items: only photos.

With any sushi place, at a minimum I would like to know what allergens are possible with each roll, and it should be easy to request substitutions and add ons.

We loved the robot waiter: that was a very cool touch, but I would expect it to deliver particular dishes and be less random (we ordered a second plate of wontons hoping to film the second interaction).

The only other thing that I wasn’t a fan of were the high tech sinks - the dryer and the sink are the same fixture with no description other than to wave your hands underneath. When I went to wash my hands I started the drier and the soap I had on my hands flew up the mirror and went into my hair. It surprised me and made me laugh, but I wouldn’t have been as happy if I were on a first date for example. I would recommend providing better signage on how to use the sink/driers or downgrading to less advanced...

PROS: Hot Kitchen Food, Cold Sashimi, Robot Cat, Attentive Staff CONS: Warm, Slimy Fish in the Rolls, Handrolls, and Nigiri. Unseasoned Rice. Catalina Dressing as Spicy Sauce. Full Detailed Review: My husband and I tried Sushi Jet in Dartmouth, off Portland Street, on October 5, 2023 around 4:30pm. The place was empty, aside from another table of two. They served us warm water without ice, wasabi, old dried-out ginger, and a heated tempura sauce. We ordered some kitchen food, which was delivered by the robot cat and was delicious. Chargrilled octopus, crispy ginger beef, teriyaki chicken and chicken skewers. The sashimi was served on a bed of ice and was super cold and delicious. Sadly, the sushi was absolutely horrendous. The rice was sometimes warm, never seasoned, and fell apart. The fish was warm (above room temp) in every piece of sushi. It tasted 'fishy' and had a slimy texture. Even the seaweed tasted wrong, like it wasn't roasted. The spicy sauce tasted like Catalina Salad Dressing. The crispy handrolls had tempura bits that contained a chewy meat product. We spent $92 with tax and tip, between the two of us. We hated every single piece of sushi and I'm shocked we didn't get food poisoning. We will never...

i honestly love this place! the quality of the fish there is amazing, the salmon just melts in your mouth and when you order unagi the quantity is so nice.. not like a little sliver of eel. sushi jet quickly when to the top of my favourite sushi places.

i would SO gives 5 stars but they just opened and have lots of time to improve. i do wish there was some more “special roll” items with salmon or eel. also i really wish they had golden lava buns or enoki mushrooms there. but that may just be my bias opinion saying i love those items so much aha. the staff there is so amazing, they check in with their consumers in a calm respectful way. although they have the robots they still come by and drop off food for you so the staff is very accessible if needed. they come by and pick up your dirty dishes pretty quickly too!! so it feels like there’s never really a big build up of plates or any build up at all. if you get anxiety when your table gets too filled sushi jet would be amazing for you. over all great atmosphere to be in. great sushi. i can’t wait to see how they just keep improving. also the price is pretty average for all you can eat sushi. and for the QUALITY.. i would not complain. 10/10 would recommend going if...

I haven't dined out since Covid. To get back into it, I decided to celebrate my birthday at the new Sushi Jet in Dartmouth. I'd done my homework and was excited to dine there. What an awesome experience! I'm accustomed to dining alone, even on my birthday. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. What I love about there is the tablet used for ordering, and the very small portions for each order - I abhor food waste, especially in buffets. Eat what you order, then order more if there's room. In total, I made 15 such orders. My eyes were not allowed to deceive me any further so I stopped. By far, the BEST Sushi I've EVER had! Funny thing, I was enraptured by the edemame, not to detract from all the other delicacies. I've never had such huge, fresh edamame before. The salt on top was superb. I actually caught myself humming as I ate them - how embarrassing! What made the food and atmosphere even better was the staff. Kudos to them for their attention and attitude. I will NOT wait another year to return. Thank you for a wonderful birthday!!! p.s. Sorry about the photos - dove in immediately and only remembered to take them well after starting the feast, lol

Decent cooked food. The beef short ribs were nice and tender although they had a faint bitterness. - edit, have had these several more times and they were never bitter again The sushi looked great but the rice was really bland. Sorta missing the す. Quantity for $$ you get more here than the fancier sushi houses. I gave an extra star (4 stars total) taking into account the decent portion sizes. Edit, they are so nice and often give you little bonus dishes in your order that I raised to 5 stars. The staff is super polite and always helpful. I just had a roll from them that was added to my order, it contained tempura shrimp and avocado and was topped with thinly sliced tuna with a dab of marmalade, of all things, it was fantastic! The flavours all contrasted very well and the textures were great. I am usually a fan of traditional sushi, but this was a really cool fusion. I hope it ends up on the menu!
