Me and my boyfriend dined here twice while we were staying at the super 8. And both nights were completely different experiences. The first night I was super blown away with the chicken plate I ordered and the service we got from our waitress was amazing, she was very polite and checked up on us regularly she had great bubbly, outgoing customer service. I was so impressed by the establishment, food and service we received. Decided we should go again.
The second night was a big let down. Our waitress the next night Gave off snobby vibes, we didn't get menus till after we ordered drinks, the food wasn't the best, the wings wernt very good and the nachos we ordered were chips from the bottom of the bag with a smidgen of cheese and toppings. The main courses we got, the food tasted off and unfortunately me and my boyfriend got a little bit of food poisoning along with our dogs that we shared the left overs with. The restraunt wasn't busy AT ALL and the waitress had other girls bring out our food and tend to any requests we may have had while she spent her time flirting with the 2 guys at the bar, she didn't come around until it was time for us to pay our tab. Nd to top it all off she had the audacity to complain to the other customers that we were cheap tipping as we only gave her $15 for her bad service on a $177 tab. Honestly we shouldn't even have tipped anything. All and all I'd give this place a higher rate but management should highly consider the sort of waitress's they have representing their establishment. We are not...
Read moreWhen you pay $25 for a meal, especially in a small town, you expect to be wowed and full. Sadly, this restaurant did neither. I had originally asked to have my veggie curry to have a balance of more veggies versus rice, since no meat was offered. They said they would have to charge me more for veggies since veggies are more expensive than rice. I declined because it sounded unreasonable given the meal was already $13 + tax.
I ordered a full salad ($10 +tax) on the side, hoping to keep some for the next day. I ended up having to give my husband half the salad to make up for his tiny, meatless burrito ($16 + tax) - though he did say the taste was really good. My curry was 3/4 rice with a sprinkling of veggies (shoestring carrots, about 3 small slices of zucchini and a few shavings of onion) and barely any sauce, so the meal ended up tasting almost entirely of rice. I don't know how any of the locals in this middle class town can go out to eat if this is what they get.
Sola's, you have the potential to have a great customer base, particularly with travelers (and remember all the American tourists en route to Alaska who are used to much larger portion sizes), but at this point, you are losing customers. We are two you have lost and we will not recommend you to anyone until you can be fair with what you provide...
Read moreDawson Creek has very little places to eat outside of the big chains so If you're not hitting Solar's Pub and Grill, you are seriously missing out. This place isn't just good; it's a five-star culinary surprise attack, and you need to get in there.
First off, the establishment itself is comfortable and spacious. You're not crammed in like sardines, which is already a win. Now, let's cut to the chase and talk about the food, because that's where Solar's really shines.
I don't care what you thought about ordering sushi at a pub and grill, because that mango sushi is pure, unadulterated deliciousness. Don't even question it, just order it. And then there's the Blackened Creole Chicken—holy hell, that dish is a flavor bomb. They're doing things with chicken here that should be illegal, it's that good.
Yeah, the service was a little bit slow, I'll give you that, but they had the right intentions. You can tell they're working hard, and frankly, when the food punches you in the face with that much flavor, a little wait is easily forgiven.
So, stop scrolling, start moving. Get to Solar's, demolish that mango sushi, and let that Creole chicken change your life. You...
