I've eaten a lot of sushi in my short time on this earth, and I gotta be honest, the sushi that comes from here is pretty subpar.
I wouldnt recommend getting the tuna or salmon based rolls, or the monkey brains, you're not getting fresh fish, you're getting smoked salmon and low quality tuna. And the monkey brains has a strange flavor from just eating pure avocado with fake crab.
You kind of have to get to know the menu in order to figure out what's good. Once you have a general idea, it's easier to figure out what works and what doesnt.
The service we've received has been sort of a mixed bag, idk if the waitress we had was having a bad day, or what.
I do think that the prices they charge for their sushi in comparison to the food quality is too much. I'd recommend finding the best/the cheapest rolls on their menu.
I'd recommend the spicy crazy roll and the black dynamite roll, those have been fairly good.
Overall though, if you want sushi and you live in Dawson, look into making sushi bakes or make sushi at home if you can,...

If you're looking for excellent, high-quality sushi, this is a great spot. I also recommend the Babimbap! If you're not familiar with Japanese/Asian dishes (there are a variety of different foods from different cultures beyond Japan here), consider googling the dish and/or talking with the friendly, welcoming staff. There are clear descriptions of what the food will look/taste like, but the extra visual component is always useful when trying something new/unfamiliar.
Overall - 10/10 (or in this case, 5/5, lol).
Highly recommended if you're interested in something new or you like sushi/traditional...
Read moreWe ordered three rolls from New Tokyo Sushi.
I thought the scallops in the roll was good! They added imitation crab in the roll to bulk up the roll. I'm used to the roll just having scallops (with Masago optional)..
There was a little hair in the scallop roll. You can see it in the close up on the cucumber..
The rice in all the rolls were subpar. I didn't like the rice at all. It's dense, compact, and cold. Some of the grains were hard and broke apart into powder.
Presentation was nice.
Just FYI for other customers: The BC roll uses tempura cooked salmon without skin. The sauce is terryaki sauce. This is a little different from what we were used to in the lower mainland as the BC rolls are usually salmon skin with some meat but definitely needed the...
