Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — Restaurant in Deer Lake

Very disappointed with the service lately at M Browns here in DLake..

Went back today to give it another try and it's still the same. The young guy yelled out and said can you go to the porch we cannot have 2 ppl here by the cash...( The other day there were 3 ppl lined up) it seems like everyday the rules change. I said well cant you take my order? ( Noone at the cash waiting) he's like no I can't i have to get ppl out from the other side...I'm like i am willing to go outside and sit to wait for my order...He said No. Then i hear someone yell out saying we have been waiting for 35 minutes already for our order...I find the service poor here and unprofessional. You need to get the rules down pat and be consistent with them, Just pissing ppl of is not what you need right now...Anyways there was no time frame given or anything so we took our...

I had always loved the food and service at this location until the last couple of months. The Poppins box doesn't even be filled to the top. The big Mary is usually soggy. They turn down my husband's first responder discount with an excuse every time, doesn't apply to specials and doesn't apply to kids meals. I wanted to change my soda choice from a diet to a regular, instead of letting me just pay the sugar tax the cashier argued she would need to refund my order and put it all through again with the soda change then after I said no to that she said "I'll make it a one time exception this time". Nobody there smiles anymore or acts friendly, quality is at an all time low in all aspects and the disrespect has taken place of any customer service. It's sad to see since I thought Mary Brown's tried to have a better...

We had to do Mary Browns while in NL since this is her hood! Chicken is good, similar to other MBs in Canada except this wasn’t as greasy as the one in Ontario.

The only thing that surprised me was that to get all dark meat for the 4-PC chicken meal, I had to pay $1.25/pc extra x 2 pcs = $2.50 plus the $19.90 or about $23 for a 4 pc dark meat chicken meal. Popeyes doesn’t charge extra to change to dark meat so I was surprised that Mary Browns does this.

The lady at the cash wasn’t very helpful when we were asking which combo or individual order would be best if I wanted all dark meat without having to pay for substitutions on dark meat, she may know what would be the best way to do this.
