Update: May. 8/25
My friend & I went for lunch today and manager/daughter Cathy couldn’t have been more hospitable and patient explaining the menu to us as first timers.
She offered us a complimentary taster portion of the appetizer Puff Puff. It’s a sweet, deep fried dough ball. Careful it comes very hot to the table. We liked it very much, my friend says it’s similar to our chinese milk bread. Could be enjoyed for dessert too I think.
We shared Jollof Rice (w/chicken) with plantain and salad $26.99 and Egusi Soup (w/beef) $26.99. The soup came with (yam powder) fufu. You choose the protein: beef, chicken or fish (mackerel). Spice level is 1-10, we asked for 3/4 and found it very mild so the little bowl of spicy condiment Cathy supplied amped it up nicely and had great flavour. They also offer turkey, goat and tilapia on the menu. We very much enjoyed our food and the 4 star rating only reflects the fact I have nothing to compare it to as new to Nigerian cuisine.
North Delta is pretty south asian heavy as far as restaurant choices so Alebi’s is a very much welcome dining option.
My friend and I have vowed to try something different in future visits to expand our experience of Nigerian food culture.
May. 2, 2025:
I only stepped in to check out the new restaurant in my neighborhood and have a look at the menu.
I was met by manager Cathy whose mother is owner. She told me they’ve been in business for 12 years at another location and here in N.Delta since Mar. 1/25.
I’m happy we have more diverse eating options and look forward to coming back for a first ever Nigerian (west african) meal.

Now, the food—absolutely outstanding! Every bite is packed with bold, traditional flavors that showcase the richness of Nigerian cuisine. The jollof rice is perfectly seasoned with a smoky, delicious taste, and the suya is tender, spicy, and grilled to perfection. The egusi soup, paired with pounded yam, was thick, flavorful, and comforting. And if you love pepper soup, theirs is a must-try—spicy, aromatic, and deeply satisfying!
For dessert, the puff-puffs were light, golden, and just the right amount of sweet.
The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the overall experience is top-notch. Whether you’re Nigerian and missing home-cooked meals or someone eager to explore West African cuisine, Alebi Nigerian cuisine is the perfect spot. I’ll...
Read moreFlavour is good. Vibe is good. Can do better on menu pricing clarity. I dined in and ordered Egusi with goat. There is no mention on the menu anywhere or by the server there’s an up-charge for goat. Was surprised when settling the bill as a result didn’t tip the usual amount. Could be they are still working out kinks in their operation given they recently opened. Advised server to please make sure additional charges are either stated on the menu or mentioned. Will update this next time I visit see if they have taken...
