Ordered them from Doordash tonight. Everything about it was embarrassingly bad. We had seen this place in the progress of being built for years and was excited to try it as we like to try all of the new chicken places that pop up. The doordash menu presents itself pretty strongly, with crispy looking chicken, house made sauces, and so on.
When we opened the bag the first clue that this would be a bad experience was immediately noticeable - all of the sauces they send (one of which we paid extra for!) are little Heinz packets. The cheapest, most generic and barely edible sauces you can get. The ranch in particular is a goopy mess that no one would want with this.
We opened the boxes and found the chicken to be a pale color of yellow and devoid of any crispiness or crunchiness that you want out of a good fried chicken. Visually it's entirely unappetizing and we are currently trying to save it by heating it in our air fryer.
To be clear - this is not an issue with the temperature of the food and thus not an issue with it being Doordashed. This is the restaurant putting a thin, bland coating of batter on the chicken and then not cooking it to the point you get the crunch that fried chicken should satisfy.
Do not order from here. It is not worth the money, and not worth the time or effort to order from here. If a friend offers you some from this place for free, politely decline and never speak to them again, for their taste is obviously flawed and I would never trust...

The food was great! It was made fresh! I personally really enjoyed the Chicken sandwich as it had the right amount of crisp, and the chicken was really juicy! It definitely beats pop eyes by a long shot! Just wish I had some blackened ranch, tho the ghost pepper ranch was delicious! The popcorn chicken was a little dry, but paired nicely with the sauces/dip nicely! I'm use to them a bit more salted and peppered but still had a nice crunch to them. The peri peri fries where delicious! Seasoned nicely tho it seemed that it was also kinda centralized and not tossed in a way as some of the fries where not seasoned at all, but I was able to scoop up some of the extra salt and spices and cover them so that was nice touch. Now my one complaint was the biscuit. I tried the biscuit as it sounded delicious "maple Chive" and I didn't really get a maple taste. Like I am a bit curious if they come frozen as the bottoms of the biscuit was kinda cold and tough to chew but the middle/top layer was smokey and buttered nicely.
All in all a very nice experience and will be coming back to try the wings and chicken pieces. Thank you so much for...
Read moreOrdered take out, 1-8 piece roast chicken family meal & 1-10 piece fried chicken family meal. Sides were 2 fries, 1 coleslaw, 1 buttery corn, 2 family gravies & 9 biscuits.
Unfortunately we got cheated with the chicken. Each order is supposed to come with equal thighs & drumsticks. The 8 piece had 3 thighs & 5 drumsticks, the 10 piece had 3 thighs & 7 drumsticks. Now this may seem petty, however in this day & age with everything costing more, you expect to get what you pay for & in our case we did not. If you advertise something you should deliver on it & not try to cheat your customers hoping they won't notice.
The chicken & biscuits were good The corn & coleslaw were not very good at all. The fries are on par with Costco food court fries. The gravy had an odd taste.
This used to be one of our favourite chicken places (I have a rave review for their 10th Ave location). Even their Metrotown location was very good. To be fair we haven't been to either in a couple of years so maybe Hi-Five just isn't as good as we remember it? I don't know. But tonight at this new location may have just been our last visit to...
