My first time eating at a slightly more upscale Indian restaurant...and it was amazing! 🔥
Came here for some late dinner with my Indian buddy and it wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. Originally we were seated at a table for two that was quite dark because of the lack of lighting in the area, so I had requested to our server if we could move to a brighter table behind us which she granted. The main reason for this is because I am not of a fan of eating in the dark, and as a food critic/reviewer, I like to see what I am eating clearly so I can provide better feedback.
We ordered the following for two people: Tikka 3 Ways Bhatti ki Macchi Garlic Naan Missi Rotti Puran Singh Da Tariwala Murgh Dum murgh biryani Falooda Kulfi
I ordered the tikka 3 ways for my appetizer and it was really good! I love that it was done 3 ways so I can taste which one I like the most...the spicy one was my favorite. The cook on the chicken was perfect and not dry.
For our mains we got the chef's special Puran Singh Da Tariwala Murgh and Chicken Biryani. For my bread I ordered the garlic naan and my Indian buddy ordered the missi rotti. Everything tasted delicious! The gravy was rich, savory, with a bit of spice and the chicken biryani was piping hot and cooked perfectly! 👌
The garlic naan was soft, flaky and fresh! The texture was really good and perfect for dipping into the curry. The only con my Indian buddy said was the missi rotti was slightly overcooked.
Overall though the appetizers and mains were delicious.
For dessert I ordered the Falooda Kulfi and all I have to say is...WOW! The ice cream dessert was bursting with Indian flavours...I felt like I teleported to India when I ate a spoon full of this delicious creamy dessert. This was definitely the star of the meal tonight! I am not a huge dessert guy - but this one I truly enjoyed...I also like that it wasn't overly sweet. 🍨🍧
The service here was excellent. Our server refilled our waters regularly and even educated me with some of the food I was ordering and eating. She also made sure we were getting new plates, silverware and napkins for each course. 👍
Interior and seating was also good. The table is a nice height and the chairs are padded. The only con is that some of the tables here are placed in darker areas of the restaurant...I guess it's fine if you prefer candle light dinners, but in my opinion there should be a bit more lighting that stretches across the wall where the tables are since they are further away from the glass windows and get blocked out by the higher booth seating which makes those areas feel less important.
Overall though, I enjoyed eating here and plan to eat here again to try their other menu items. I am a big fan of Indian food since I grew up in Surrey, so it's nice to be able to treat myself with some indian fine dining once...
Read moreI had high hopes for this restaurant and was excited to take my parents here. I also had a gift card given to me, so I decided to bring them here.
First of all, when we walked into the restaurant it was empty. It was Sunday evening, prime dinner time and there was no one in the restaurant. Not a good sign.
Second, we proceeded to order some appi’s and mains. I had inquired about their fish appetizer dish and when the waitress told me more about the dish I decided I did not want that. Our appetizers came out and the fish dish that I had said I didn’t want also came out. It was a different waitress who brought out the food and she told me the first waitress had put the fish appetizer into our order. A few minutes later the first waitress came to our table and apologized, she told me she went on a break right after taking oir order and she was in hurry and didn’t properly put our order in. She told us she will remove the fish appi from our bill. Fine that’s ok, mistakes happen especially when you’re in a hurry to take your break.
Third, next came our main dishes. All three items we ordered were TERRIBLE. We order a butter chicken, paneer dish and goat gosht. The butter chicken and paneer were both 80% sauce and only 4-5 very small pieces of chicken and paneer each. These main dishes were $20 each and basically mostly sauce. They both did not taste that good and were not filling since it was all sauce. The goat was a good portion, but it was way too salty and spicy. Worst goat meat I’ve ever had.
Fourth, when it came to paying for the bill I was under the impression that the gift card I was given was $100. So I had ordered accordingly, now this could have been my mistake, as I didn’t check before I ordered how much was on there. The waitress went to redeem the gift card and she told me there’s only $50 on there. The manager came out and he told me they only sell $50 gift cards. They never sell $100 gift cards. That sounded strange to me but there wasn’t anything I could do so I paid the bill after redeeming the $50 on the gift card. I don’t know if the restaurant ripped me off or if it was my mistake of not verifying the amount before we ordered. Regardless, with or without the gift card the food was terrible and over priced. I won’t be...
Read moreWe actually had come to Delta to go to Denny next door this morning to have a good hearty breakfast. In between fell TYC and out of consideration for my wife who is a veg, I proposed that we stop here instead as I had a positive experience the last time I stopped by here. I regret doing that now as it spoilt the start of our weekend. They provide a complementary drink (tea or juice) with Amritsari Kulcha which I ordered this morning. I asked for tea which is basically their pre-mixed masala concoction which is simply poured into a cup. I immediately realized my mistake as it when tasted like a spicy hot soup but considering that this was a complementary drink, I told the server if she can provide juice instead as I don’t relish this kind of tea. Seeing her reluctance, I said that we could pay for it little realizing they actually would. On pointing it out, the man who came to charge us later began arguing that we asked for it and they can hardy do anything as this is the way it is made. Ok, we asked for it! But I was aghast at the puny approach towards a customer who didn’t like their one small drink and any other restaurant realizing that a customer hasn’t liked something would have changed it gladly, but they jumped to charge $5 for it! Maybe that’s all they wanted to avoid their loss of a cup of tea gone waste, but we will not return to this place. Not sure who lost or won! What would have been a no-question-asked situation for any self-respecting restaurant was turned into a money-squeezing / argumentative situation. I have seen their management replying in platitudes about how they endeavour to serve customers in replying to a “1” rated review, but still holding a moral high ground. I expect them to do the same here. Mr. SK please ask your franchisees to be a bit magnanimous with their clients. It won’t make a big dent to your profits if a small drink replacement is not charged; we came back paying but the aftertaste of the incident has made us go public and the same way I guess all these “1” raters would have also felt while posting their reviews here. Apart from this, their food was passable and the temperature inside was cold like...
