Gangnam Korea - Huntsville: A Must for Korean Comfort Food Lovers
Stopped by Gangnam Korea in Huntsville the other night with friends and wow—this place is such a cozy little find. The vibe is super chill with fun K-pop playing in the background, and the staff were genuinely so friendly.
Special shoutout to Manager Mel—he was incredibly warm and welcoming, checked in on us multiple times, and made sure everything was just right. You can really tell he cares about his customers and takes pride in the place. His energy made the whole experience even better.
Now let’s talk food.
Gamjatang (Pork Bone Soup) This was everything. Rich, spicy broth, fall-off-the-bone pork, and just the right amount of heat to warm you up from the inside out. Honestly, it’s the kind of dish you crave on cold days—or when you need a little hug in a bowl. 10/10 comfort food.
Soy Garlic Fried Chicken Do not sleep on this. Crispy, juicy, and coated in that sticky soy garlic glaze that hits the perfect sweet-savory balance. I had to stop myself from eating the whole plate solo. It’s that good.
They also have some cute Korean street food snacks and bubble tea if you want to mix things up. Prices are fair for the quality and quantity, and they offer both dine-in and takeout options. Next time, I’m eyeing their Korean street food specials and maybe some bubble tea to go.
Overall? Loved it. Great food, amazing service, and a super positive vibe thanks to Manager Mel and the team. If you’re in the area and craving Korean, this spot’s a winner.
Would I go back? 100%. For the gamjatang, soy garlic chicken—and Kuya Mel’s...
Read moreCute little spot with some food and bubble tea. The portions are big and what I purchased was enough to feed 4-6 people easily.
I had bulgogi, japche and 2 bubble teas.
Japche- pretty good, a little light on the sesame seeds and sesame oil.
Bulgogi- pretty good, but was incorrectly packed into a sushi container which warped with heat from the fiod, spilling all the juices through the bag, in my car, and to the bottom of the rice containers. Because it lost all the juices the meat was dry and less flavourful than it should have been. The container was also not rated for hot items, so there's an issue of harmful carcinogens being released into the food.
Bubble tea- tapioca texture is good, but mixed with too much sugar. The drink itself didn't use any evaporated milk, only milk powder which wasn't fully incorporated since it was only stirred without also being shaken. This caused bits of white powder to float around the drink looking a bit like spoiled milk. Because there wasn't enough milk incorporated, the powder flavour was strong and very sweet, even without added simple syrup.
Sides- kimchi and pickled radish. Kimchi was okay. Radish was sweet and crunchy, very tasty.
Overall, I think that if the hot food is packed in a container meant to handle it, it's good and I'd visit again. I don't think I'd have the...
Read moreWHAT AN EXPERIENCE…K-Style! I was on a mini girls getaway coming from Toronto and we saw the catchy sign as we drove into town and knew we had to stop by. Sunju, the sweetest owner of the restaurant welcomed us with the warmest smile. The place was super clean and spotless but the little touches throughout did not go unnoticed…even down to the rest room! Love all the K-drama and K-pop incorporated in the overall decor. You can tell she put her heart into this business. Ordered the family meal and got the popular gagnam style signature KFC (Korean fried chicken) flavour and let’s just say it DID NOT LAST LONG. It was very tasty and made you want to go back for another piece despite being full. FINGER LICKING GOOD. The best part was that it was not greasy. The japchae noodles were also very good and authentic. The fried rice and gyoza…also super yummy! Again, all cooked to perfection! The sides (radish and kimchi) were a great compliment to the main dishes. Portions were generous. We were trying to convince Sunju to open a location in the GTA because it would do so well and obviously to satisfy our cravings. They also sell bubble tea with a variety of flavours. How can you resist?!?! She did a great job introducing her culture to a small town and she should be very proud she’s representing it first class! We’ll definitely be...
