Read moreI have never seen a more amateur-looking wedding cake. It was not ready when it should have been, despite being ordered two weeks in advance. It was 2.5 inches high, despite my parents having paid for a 4-inch triple layer cake. The decorations appear to have been done by someone's five-year-old child. They did not offer my parents a refund or discount of any sort. We were too embarrassed to put the cake out as it was, so three of us spent several hours scraping off the decorations, re-covering the remnants with our own icing (which also tasted better than theirs), and then re-decorating with berries and chocolate chips. Honestly, I am shocked that they felt comfortable selling this. They should be ashamed.
EDIT: In response to the bakery's response below, I have uploaded a copy of the order form. If there is another Bisou Bake House in North Vancouver that I should be contacting instead, please let me know!
EDIT: In response to the bakery's second response, the form I uploaded is the full form, you just need to click on the photo to see the whole form. I agree that we asked for flowers in blue and mauve. The issue is that the flowers looked entirely unprofessional, as did the writing. And it was also late. My parents were treated with blatant disrespect by the bakery staff. Neither of those issues has been addressed in your responses. I don't live in Vancouver, so I won't be going in to "review the form" with you. I know what the form says. Can you honestly look at that cake and say it looks professionally decorated? Would you serve that to your guests at any family gathering? You had a chance to show my family some respect with a simple apology for the cake being below your usual standards, but the way you've handled my complaint is absolutely despicable. If your family is upset by this, then I'm sure you can imagine how upset...
Read moreI've been to Bisou Bakehouse on 3 separate occasions so far. Each time I go, I'm always acknowledged and greeted by someone behind the counter. They offer samples of different pies but I'm not really a pie person so I decline. However I am a fan of their delicious croissants! I like their almond and chocolate so far. I got some goodies for my family and I was told the pear danish is quite delicious đ
I like how they have a smaller version of their croissants and danish. Sometimes you just don't want to eat a large pastry. It's also a great way to try it out before committing to the regular sized one! I noticed they now have individual slices of black forest cake which I will get on my next visit.
Everything is absolutely fresh and tasty so far. The only negative I can think of is that I am not a fan of their pastry box. It comes in one size only and it's awkward to carry around. It's a large, flat box. Since the bottom is wide, it doesn't fit in any of my recyclable bag for me to carry with handles. Maybe they can work on carrying different size boxes.
They make recommendations when you are not sure what to get but never overly pushy about it. I enjoy their customer service and products. I will definitely be back for more. Their pastries suit my palate as they are not overly sweet or heavy.
I live downtown and don't mind traveling to the north shore for...
