I was excited to try North Vancouver's new Douce Diner this long weekend. Generally, I was not disappointed. Douce Diner, located on Pemberton Avenue just south of the Cactus Club, has an authentic, old-school diner look and feel, and a great deal of care has gone into the decor and atmosphere. Even the friendly wait staff have adopted 50's dress and style, to a certain extent. The menu here is simple, with few but sufficient choices. On my first visit, I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Country Ham, served with hash browns and accompanied by a traditional vanilla milkshake. My dining companion ordered the Panko Fried Chicken Sammy with a salad and a glass of orange juice. Food portions here are fairly small, so, if you have a big appetite, head over to Denny's to satisfy your hunger, instead. Having said that, it is apparent, at first bite, that Douce Diner uses high quality ingredients to produce some great tasting food. My eggs were perfectly cooked, the country ham was tender and the underlying biscuit was fresh. The hash browns were so amazingly good that the ketchup provided stayed in the bottle. My milkshake was smooth and satisfying, and neither too thick nor too sweet. The fried chicken sandwich was crispy and flavourful, with all-white chicken breast meat. The bread crumb panko was seasoned, but not excessively so. Both dishes were nicely presented and quite photogenic. Service was adequate and pleasant. The total bill came in at just under $50, including tax and tip, which is not great value, given the smaller portion sizes. However, overall, I would recommend a visit to Douce Diner, if only to enjoy the authentic diner experience and the superior food quality that is absent from most modern diners in this city. I wish Douce Diner a very long and...

I've had the pleasure of trying a variety of their menu items, but their egg breakfasts, burgers, and waffles always stand out to me as the best.
First and foremost, let's talk about their egg breakfasts. I am a huge fan of eggs and Douce Diner does not disappoint. They have a great variety of options, but my go-to is the 2 eggs your way. The eggs are always cooked to perfection and the side choices are always plentiful. The breakfast comes with a side of perfectly crisp hash brown and fresh toast. I've also tried their omelets and they are also top-notch.
Their burgers are also a must-try. They are made with high-quality beef and are cooked to your liking. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh. The bun is soft and the perfect size for the burger.
Last but not least, their waffles are out of this world. They are light and fluffy, with a crispy exterior. They are served with fresh fruit and a side of delicious maple syrup. They also offer a phenomenal chicken and waffles which is sure to turn heads..
