DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please do yourself a favour and AVOID THIS CACTUS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! As someone who has been eating at Cactus Club for years on end, any other location will provide you with a positive experience. This was our first and LAST time visiting this location.
We had just come in to have dinner after a long day of snowboarding. We ordered our usual eats, and were excited to feast. The first red flag was that we initially had a girl as our server, but then someone else became our server without notice, making it extremely difficult and confusing to order, as we were not made aware of the server change. The new server also kept disappearing and we could not find him.
We waited an HOUR for our food to finally be served. There were times where I looked over at the counter with the food warmer, and our meals were just sitting under there getting dry. There was only one other party of 2 dining, so we were confused about the insane wait time.
Brushing past the wait time, we were just hungry and ready to eat. At first glance, our food looked extremely dry. We took a bite, and everything was COLD. The food was INEDIBLE. The chicken and mashed potatoes were dry and extremely cold, our rice bowls were also very cold, and the portions were very tiny, as if they were rationing our meals. We knew this was not right at all. We were extremely hurt and upset this had happened and no one was doing anything to make it right, let alone listen to our concerns and frustrations. We were treated like a JOKE.
We brought up our concerns to the manager, and her tone was very rude and loud towards us. Was a positive experience too much to ask for?? Nothing was done to fix the situation. The service from all members from this team was extremely poor, and the company should really look into providing them basic training in customer service. We have never had a bad experience at Cactus Club, and this was the first time and at this location; that speaks for itself. Upon leaving the restaurant, we were given dirty looks by the team, from both management and team members. Especially from the one male bartender with tattoos, who was mocking us as we were leaving. We left the restaurant without dinner, and only left with a TERRIBLE taste of the bad experience from this location.
This is a completely unacceptable experience, and no guest should EVER have to go through and experience what we did. There were countless red flags that we should have not ignored. We ended up going to the Coal Harbour location immediately after to have our dinner and received phenomenal service as well as amazing food, kudos to them.
AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are better off driving an extra 10-15 minutes to the next location. We were treated like animals by this team, and by one of the managers, Leticia. Nothing has been done to resolve our terrible experience, and we will NOT be...
Read moreMy recent visit to Cactus Club Cafe was an absolute nightmare, and it's all thanks to the abysmal service we received, especially from the waiter named Joe. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of disappointing, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
First and foremost, Joe's attitude was downright appalling. He greeted us with an indifferent expression and seemed bothered by our presence. Throughout the entire meal, he displayed no interest in assisting us or even taking our orders properly. It was as if he was doing us a favor by gracing us with his presence.
Not only was Joe rude, but he also completely neglected his responsibilities. We had to wait an unreasonably long time just to get a menu and even longer for him to finally come over to take our drink orders. Once the drinks arrived, they were wrong, and we had to flag down another staff member to get the situation resolved.
As if that wasn't enough, Joe was nowhere to be found when we needed refills or had questions about the menu. It felt like we were invisible, and he was deliberately avoiding us. It's unbelievable that someone can be employed in the service industry while providing no service whatsoever.
The food itself was mediocre at best, but the terrible service overshadowed any positive aspects of the dining experience. The lack of attention and care from Joe made the meal incredibly frustrating and ruined what should have been an enjoyable outing.
It's a shame that Cactus Club Cafe allows such incompetent and disrespectful individuals like Joe to represent their establishment. I highly recommend avoiding this place unless you're willing to tolerate subpar service and a rude waiter. There are plenty of other restaurants in town where you'll be treated with the respect and courtesy that every paying...
Read moreI have been going here for over 25 years, but have discovered they sure don't welcome kids. Typically a fun atmosphere and friendly service, but that changed when we went to the beach ave location (Vancouver) 2 years ago with our 1 and 5 year olds. When we asked for a fun kids drink (roy rogers, Shirley temple, or something with a cherry in it?) so they wouldn't be asking for our bellinis, they told us outright 'this is not a family restaurant, so don't have anything special for kids'. Fair enough. Left after dinner with a bad taste in our mouths. Cut to last night (North Vancouver) with 2 7 year olds and a 3 year old, all well behaved (no running, whining, screaming, crying, or messes- in fact complimented by patrons and employees) ... hostesses had their backs turned to us at the entrance, as opposed to the smile and welcome i get without kids, but got a table immediately (after telling us it was a half hour wait). Then the manager moved us to another table because, 'a party was coming in next to us and he could not guarantee that they would not be using vile language'. Did not feel welcomed; in fact, felt strangely awkward. Should we write this off as 'kids say the darndest things'? Or give it one last try?Come on cactus club- if you prefer wine-drinking, hungry adults over kids- who may not bring in the dollars per head you are hoping for (or some other reason?)- rebrand from a cafe to 'Cactus Club Bar', and other families can know what to expect. Simply not having high chairs, booster seats, or kids menus is too subtle. Let's call it what it is, which is unfortunate. Sometimes, like in these 2 cases, families are made to feel we have been relegated to pirate packs and fast food. Don't understand? You will, when...
