I have been ordering from here, in Lynn Valley, for 2 years now, and like the person who reviewed 4 months ago, the toro was off.
Tonight amongst the items I ordered was nekitoro cone and tobiko and masago nigiri. 1)The size portion of the latter two over the last 3 times I have ordered have been getting smaller and smaller. 2) the nekitoro was off with one bite and stank off, and It was just slabs of this stinky off toro with onion thrown on. I called and was told to bring it back. I did at my cost to drive there. The chef who said he worked in sushi for 25 years said "why did I bring it back." I told him why and have been eating and making sushi for 44 years, all over the world including Japan, and that is not how nekitoro is made. He said "that is how we make nekitoro here". Apparently over all these years he did not learn Japanese, as 'nekitoro' means MINCED toro (NOT slabs of toro) with onion mixed minimum, but sometimes with sauce mixed in, most commonly a little Japanese mayonnaise. Toro has been off from here a few times before and I called about it, but this is first time I have been so upset I have written...
Read moreSo, I finally went to Mr Sushi with my family several days ago, this awesome little sushi joint that's been around for over 10 years. It's got this really cool, old-school vibe that just makes you feel like you're part of something special.
The place is small, but don't let that fool you—the menu is packed with all sorts of delicious options. I started with some miso soup, and it was like a cozy little bowl of comfort. Then I dove into the sushi, and wow, it was amazing. The fish was super fresh, and you could tell they really know what they're doing.
Even though the menu isn't huge, every dish is a winner. The chef's special roll was my favorite—it had this awesome mix of flavors that totally hit the spot.
The staff were really friendly and seemed genuinely proud of the place. They were happy to chat about the menu and made sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, Mr Sushi is a total gem in Lynn Valley. It's the kind of place where you can just relax and enjoy some seriously good sushi. If you haven't been yet, you gotta check it out. I'll definitely be back...
Read moreNot just possibly, but the worst sushi l’ve had in my 56 years. I’ve had better whilst visiting Toronto and they’re not even beside the ocean. I don’t know if Mr. Sushi are running out of money or just cheapening out. We ordered party tray A, in which there is supposed to be one tempura yam roll. I am not a fan of yam but I can stomach one roll. However, every single other combo roll was stuffed with it. The BC roll, the California roll, the whatever other kind of roll, in lieu of more of the ingredients that make those rolls taste yummy and have their own individual taste. The salmon and tuna rolls were tiny and the cost was more than what I have paid at the regular places we frequent.
By the way, unless one orders noodles, every sushi restaurant is gluten free.
The place was rundown and junky. But, had the food been delicious it would have felt charming and off the beaten path, I’m sure.
Frankly it was a huge dissatisfying...
