They have a hot food menu but there are also bowls and sandwiches in a grab and go fridge, which they will heat or (for salads) toss for you if you'd like to eat in. They also sell dried noodles. take-home ramen kits, lots of frozen foods, and a small assortment of local crafts like cards. I'm not a big ramen person, so I came here thinking I'd probably get a sandwich, but the spicy tan tan ramen sounded different and caught my attention, so I ordered that along with a chocolate cupcake and a lavender latte. The ramen was amazing! I could've happily eaten the creamy squash broth on its own, or the pate-like nut mix that it was topped with. The noodles had a good tenderness as well. The broth was pretty oily and it was a little too much for me. I know that the oil is where the spice comes from and the spice was very much a good thing, but I would have liked it better if some of that spice had come from other channels so that the broth wasn't so oily. However this is just my preference as I prefer very low oil in my food in general; if you like a rich broth, you might be fine with the oil level in this. After my first few bites of the cupcake, I was not convinced, but by the time I was finishing it, I was in love with the deep dark chocolate flavour and richness of the frosting. The cake was a little on the dry side, but honestly it didn't really matter because the flavour was there. The lavender latte was just okay. I got it decaf, and I always drink decaf and mostly like it so it's not like I'm a snob about regular vs decaf, but I did feel that this one "tasted decaf" - a little over-roasted and lacking in depth. Nothing off about it though, just missing the wow factor. That being said, I really liked the extra foamy cap! I bought a cup of natto from them to take home because I've never seen a shop selling homemade natto here! Very good! North Vancouver is a hike for me, so although I would love to come back and get that sandwich, who knows if or when I'll get the chance... but I'm glad I found the chance to come out at least this once because this might be the most I’ve ever enjoyed a...
Read moreWithin North Vancouver and West Vancouver there are very few options for plant based eating. The Workshop Vegetarian is the only restaurant I know of on that side of town that is a dedicated Vegan/ Vegetarian restaurant. I am so happy that I finally got to try it! (And I got to use another plant based deals coupon for it too!)
Spicy Tan Tan Ramen Miso Glazed Eggplant Veggie Sandwich Croissant Breakfast Sandwich Marinara Grilled Cheese Sandwich Pumpkin Spice Latte Beetroot Latte Mocha
My husband loved his Spicy Tan Tan Ramen, and when my meat eating husband eats something plant based and actually likes it, that is a sure sign of good food. He tried the Miso Glazed Eggplant Veggie Sandwich and gave his seal of approval to that as well.
I don't know what it is about Breakfast sandwiches that's got our daughter hooked on them so much but I am definitely not complaining about it as she's learning to widen her taste palate and eat foods she's never really eaten much before, thanks to her new love of Vegan breakfast sandwiches. This one at Workshop Vegetarian was no exception to the rule. She loved this one, and the greens were not a detterent!
Grilled Cheese Sandwich is a simple dish that I could make at home so I don't usually order it, but a vegan version of it is a real treat as we don't often have Vegan cheese at home. I absolutely loved this Vegan Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The cheese was just as ooey and gooey as a regular Grilled Cheese Sandwich and it tasted so good with the Marinara sauce!
They also have a fridge and freezer section where you can buy ready made food to go, or plant based foods to cook at home. I think I may do a bit of shopping on my next visit!
This place is my new favourite on the North Shore, and I can't wait to go back again!

Read moreAs a major Vancouver foodie, I don't think I have ever reviewed a place whose food actually made me feel so... replenished after eating. But along came this place.
Truly, The Workshop Vegetarian Café was a quirky, adventurous, and overall fun dining experience. Not only was the food delicious, it was nutritious down to the last bite, and the service from their friendly, easygoing staff was nothing short of spectacular. My wife and I came on a really hot day, and the rice noodles with organic cashew sauce, served either hot, kind of like a ramen, or cold, which was what I ordered (see photo below), was exactly what I needed to alleviate the heat I felt from that scorching, summer day. That, paired with the organic apple juice I drank from a mason jar (yes, a mason jar) left me feeling completely refreshed. My wife had their avocado toast with a soy latte, and while I thought the bread was a little on the hard side, she absolutely enjoyed it. They also had a little gift shop filled with merchandise like mason jars, The Workshop t-shirts, reusable straws, and straw holders! This place is a little far from us considering it's in North Van, but I would definitely make the trip just to dine at this place again. Once you've eaten here, you would too. Come try this place....
