If you seek good service and customer service-oriented staff, don't ever think of that place. As they say, one employee can easily blow up all the hard work of the whole staff. In my case, it took two employees to do that.
Unfortunately, one of them is the store manager himself – Alex - who knows a little about customer service and doesn’t care if his customers happy/satisfied or not. When I told him that I’d share my bad experience on the internet, he just replied "Go for it", pointing me to how the store was crowded and that my opinion wouldn’t make any difference. Well, my friend, the truth is one person can still make a difference, but obviously either the owners didn’t teach you, or simply, you didn’t follow their rules. That’s a basic rule in business.
The other staff member was a young female attendee who happened to be standing next to Alex, laughing when I was expressing my frustration to him.
I really don’t care about my main complaint, but it’s all about the staff's attitude and the way they handle situations like this. He could have easily changed my experience 180 degrees, with a smile and a glass of water, without even having to apologize. But, it’s a talent, that he doesn't have. Rule number one “Role the red carpet to your customer”, just think about that the next time you face such a scenario, my son.
Word of mouth makes a big difference, so I’ll make sure to spread it. I do recommend going to any other branch, but never to this...
Read moreIt was my first time at Rockaberry although I have heard others go on with almost a religious enthusiasm about how good the food particularly the deserts are.
They receive 5/5 for the quality of their pies hands down. I had the Key Lime ant tasted an apple and another pie. I liken the Key Lime pie to a gateway drug given a dew bites you are addicted and there's no going back to poor quality store bought pies. Yes the deserts are that good.
The rating 4/5 is for the entre. I ate the Thai wrap that was underwhelming. It was good but I would give it a maximum of 3/5. The portion size was reasonable and it was well presented on the plate, however the Thai flavour was not consistent enough nor complex enough throughout the wrap. Perhaps warming up the wrap will bring out the flavour.
Ambiance 5/5 Modern warm colours with long rectangular fireplaces and lighting that makes for a relaxed environment. The music was in the background where it is supposed to be and not the critical error some restaurants make by playing the wrong type of music or playing it too loud.
Service 5/5 There was a shift change before we finished our meal and both servers were very astute at serving our needs without being intrusive.
I will definitely be back particularly for the pie. I'm going to have to work my way trying every last one of them....and there selection is...
Read moreRockaberry used to be worth a major detour if you're ever within 50kms of the Greater Montreal area. I have been a die hard fan of Rockaberry pies since the 90s when they just served pies, bagel, sandwiches and salads. the pie was always the main event. No one could go to Rockaberry and not order a slice of pie, even if "to go". Sadly it seems that the more locations they opened up, the more they expand their menu into other dishes and the worse the quality becomes. On Saturday I ordered a whole apple crumble pie from the Pointe Claire location, to share with my friends from out of town; there were no instructions on the box about having to bake it in the oven heat it before serving, but we popped it in the oven anyway for 30 minutes at 425 degrees. The texture and taste of the award- winning crumble topping was amazing and the apple filling was tasty and seemed fresh, but we were all made sick to our stomachs by the stretchy, undercooked pie dough between the crumble topping and the apple filling. I am surprised no one got sick from basically eating uncooked pie dough. $25 is a lot of money for an apple pie, and almost all of it was thrown in the trash for fear of falling ill. I wish they would invest more in quality control and/or providing baking instructions, than expanding w...
