Extremely unsanitary. The person who took my order was wearing a pair of clear plastic gloves and taking another order on a cell phone. When she finished, she took my order and took my money and gave me change and was about to start on my order with the same pair of gloves. I asked her to please change her gloves especially in view of the fact that she had just handled money. She went to the sink and wiped her gloves with a wet cloth that had been sitting in the sink. As she was about to start again to make my Sushi with the same pair of unchanged gloves, I again asked her to change them since she had just handled money. The owner came out from the back of the shop and was very irate telling me that he can't have people coming into the shop and watching everything they do and insisting they change their gloves. I was astounded since I had been coming to that shop on a periodic basis for many years. He refused to hear what I had to say, telling me he would have her change her gloves this one time when preparing my order but that I should never come back to their store to which I replied that he needn't worry because I would never want to. The incident made me seriously question their sanitary practices (or lack thereof ) during food prep. I found the owner to be rude and unreasonable since I felt that what I was asking for was in fact fair qnd reasonable and for my own health and safety. Handling money and then working with food is very unsanitary and unhealthy as most people know.
It would have been better if she had discarded her used gloves and washed her hands thoroughly with soap and water if she did not want to put on fresh gloves. So much for the customer always...
Read moreI ordered a lunch special combo B (pointed at the option on the menu) the lady taking my order misunderstood and punched in combo D. When taking my credit card payment, she didn’t confirm the order nor the total. She just handed me the card reader, as I was tapping my card, i noticed I was overcharged. Mentioned it to the lady, she insisted I ordered combo D. Anyway, she does the “math” and gives me the difference in cash, although I paid by credit card. When I asked why they wouldn’t reimburse me on my CC, they said it’s too complicated and they would have to “make phone calls”, whatever that means. I believe they didn’t want to pay the credit card fees. They also shortchanged me when reimbursing me. The “chef” got mad when I called him out on it. Garbage attitude along with garbage food, perfect combo, unlike the rotten fish they served me. Some of the fish was greyish/brown and the other was pink. Clearly not fresh. I have no idea if this is the same owner who has been in this location for the past however many years BUT this past year has been extremely disappointing. This is my 4th and last order for 2022......not only did I ask and pay for extra shrimp in the Tartares that I ordered, there must have been a miscommunication because there seemed to be less and less shrimp as the months went on, to the point that I think they forgot they are a sushi restaurant and filled the rolls with 90% oily, greasy tempura, no onion, no roe, no taste and no fish. And after finally confronting them right after I threw it all out in the Marche de l'Ouest garbage, I received a blank face and rude replies. I was very polite but obviously frustrated for giving them too many chances. Nausea on top of nausea has been the result of my ONLY TEMPURA ROLLS.
