So I usually do not post reviews, unless I see a really huge discrepancy between the rating and the food/service or quality. First off, service was great and I really liked our server. I was really super disappointed with our meal though. First off myself and my friend ordered the arancini balls. They were ok, to be honest Sicilian pasta kitchen does it way better. The bread they served was cold and tasted stale. Second, we ordered vitello parmiagana (breaded veal with mozzarella and marinara sauce 35$), and rigatoni giordana (pasta dish). The veal was the thinnest slice of meat I've ever had and it was super salty. The breading was not good at all -there was no crunch to it. Just moist, wet, salty thin slice of meat. It came with a side of vegetables which looked and tasted like they went to the grocery store and bought a pre-made mix of frozen vegetables and microwaved it. Rubbery, no seasoning and wet. The pasta was not fresh pasta (as least it tasted like they just bought pre-made box pasta and boiled it). The pasta sauce was very runny. The Prosciutto cotto in the pasta tasted like safeway deli meat and did not pair well with the sauce or pasta. On the other hand, they didn't say they served fresh pasta. I guess I just assumed as an Italian restaurant and the prices they would have served fresh pasta. Another problem which I don't know how this is even a thing is their marinara sauce. The saddest sauce that did no justice to Italian cuisine. It wasn't bad per say, but it wasn't good either. Also, I'm a average thin girl and so is my friend. We shared our meals. The vitello parmiagana came with a side of pasta. They made the assumption that us girls wouldn't want the side of pasta since we already shared a pasta dish yet they were fine with charging full price. First off, do not tell me how much to eat at a restaurant and second, that's why you have take away containers. We had to request for them to bring what was included in our 35$ dish. Don't worry the pasta was not even worth it. I really hate to write bad reviews, but I think they could do way better. Not sure what happened, but its been tough for a lot of places because of covid....so maybe that's the problem. Would like to come again and not be totally disappointed. My friend ordered tea and the tag said tim Hortons. Our total bill came to about 170$ for two people and apart from the wine and service I...
Read moreMy family and I celebrated my mother's birthday last weekend and we were all incredibly disappointed in our dining experience. I called the restaurant a month in advance to book a dinner reservation and indicated that it was for my mother's 65th birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated at a make-shift table next to the front door, two feet from their takeout table. I asked our waitress if we would be able to move to one of the vacant tables near the back of the restaurant and she responded abruptly "No. They're booked." We placed our drink and appetizer order. My negroni cocktail came with a glass full of small ice cubes, a lime wedge and a straw - that was different. The salads were underwhelming in presentation and flavor. We finished our appetizers and had to flag our waitress down to ask if we could order our entrees. My two year old daughter was with us but it didn't seem to register with our waitress that we might want to expedite the meal a little. Everyone's pasta arrived and I sat waiting for mine for an additional five minutes, when I ordered the same dish as three of my family members. We ordered the cannelloni which was mediocre, and my mother and sister ordered a gluten free pasta. The sauce was bland and completely runny. After informing our waitress that my mom was celiac numerous times (ordering a gluten free appetizer, gluten free pasta) she received a complimentary birthday cake slice with candles... that was not gluten free. It was completely unacceptable for our waitress to serve her cake containing gluten, when she was well aware of my mother's food allergy. She did not offer any sort of apology when this was brought to her attention. We have dined at this restaurant several times before; however, after this disappointing experience we will not...
Read moreIt's hard to review this place. On one hand, there is nothing wrong, but on the other hand, there is nothing special. I'm going to compare this place with a couple of other Italian restaurants. The price is similar to Sarantinos or Olive Garden, but you get a bit less in quality of the food. You also don't get nice complementary breads and salads. You can get a cheap alternative or order better once as appetizers. I'm not Italian, but I didn't find anything special.. The service was great. It was very friendly, prompt, and at the same time, you were never rushed to make a choice. The service is much better than in the other restaurants I compared. If in other restaurants you feel like you are part of the machine, this one feels like a custom personal service. The atmosphere is strange. On one hand, you have nice and cozy ambiance, nice tables with elegant glasses, cutlery, and cloth napkins, on the other hand, the tables are too close to each other making it a bit of a cramped environment and right next to the tables they have a bar with TV running spots. It's not romantic. It's not private. It's not inclusive. It's all of the above, and none of them at the same time. For the price they charge, I think I would rather go to some other place of...
