We had a strange experience here for lunch. We entered from inside and the server told us to sit wherever we wanted, so we went outside and sat at one of the tables. An inside server (maybe the same one) brought us menus. We sat for a while as there was only one outside server for the multiple tables that were there. The outside server sat someone else outside and then noticed we were at a table. She seemed annoyed that we somehow just appeared on the patio. She finally came by and brought water and then left. Then when she came back again, I sort of made a joke to say “Oh we snuck by you.” And she said in a mildly snippy tone, something along the lines of “Yeah, there’s an order to things.” I get that you’re annoyed that we sat down, but we were literally told we could sit anywhere and plus we had menus. She asked us if we wanted anything else to drink. When we told her we were fine with water and while I was mid telling her that we were ready to order food, she walked away to tend to other tables. Strange… Ok, sure, it’s busy out there. Maybe she didn’t hear me. She came back shortly to take our orders. When I told her I wanted the Croque Monsieur with the salad, she asked which salad, and I said I didn’t realize I could choose and I told her just whatever is the house salad. She quickly told me the name of the two options, but didn’t describe them or offer to show me where they were in the menu. I knew she was in a hurry, so I told my husband to order while I tried to find the salad options in the menu. Then she says to me, “So I’m cancelling that then?” And I said, “No, I still want the Croque Monsieur. I just need to choose the salad.” Finally, we ordered. Our food arrived shortly after, but we never saw our server again or any other server until we were done eating. The outdoor patio and the food were great (summer salad was amazing), but the service was lacking. I assume it was probably an off day for this person or maybe they didn’t realize how their actions were coming across, but it kind of just left a bad impression.

I visited the café today with a friend, and we ordered three items along with the café affogato. The Poutine Bicyclette was absolutely delicious—topped with a perfectly poached egg, bacon, and tender pulled meat. The portion was generous, featuring hand-cut round potatoes with just the right amount of gravy and cheese. Easily one of the best breakfast poutines I’ve had. We also loved the Salades d’Été—a refreshing mix of mango, avocado, and baby greens. It was light, vibrant, and something I’d definitely order again. The Poulet Croustillant was also quite good, but we were so full by that point we had to pack it to go. For coffee, I tried the café affogato with salted caramel ice cream, and it absolutely hit the spot. The combination was rich and satisfying. The staff were very friendly, the service was great, and the atmosphere was beautiful. We truly enjoyed our brunch meeting and look forward to coming back.

UPDATED! Great atmosphere. Came for eggs benedict and was disappointed in the rock hard bagel it came on. No exaggeration, it bent my fork. Sent it back and it came back on nicely toasted French bread! Delicious recovery! Cappuccino was perfect! Great atmosphere! **Came back today and ordered the spinach, tomato and feta omelette. Amazing! Pro tip : ask for your omelette to be wrapped in a croissant! Wow! **Came back again March 2018. Soo yummy! I had the lunch daily special. It consisted of poached eggs hollandaise sauce and your choice of bacon, ham, spinach, chicken or smoked salmon on a warmed croissant! This also included delish roasted potatoes and an incredible salad! Very happy tummy!

October 9, 2021 Update: Today my husband and I visited Café Bicyclette for the last time. Last year we ate at here about 8 times, spending at least $60 per visit. We really enjoyed the food and venue. Service was on the slow side but we were okay to relax in the outdoor patio.

Today, we visited again after being away since last year. We waited at the main entrance for 10 minutes without being greeted. I had to walk into the restaurant and approach a female staff member to ask to be seated.

She seated us and said she would be back with glasses of water. She never returned.

We arrived at 2:30 for a late lunch. We wanted the menu with the sandwiches but were given the brunch menu. We waited for another 15 minutes for either water or the waitress. She never came to our table but we watched her serve two other parties who arrived after us. We waited another 5 minutes then decided to leave.

I walked into the restaurant and handed the brunch menus to the waitress and said we have been waiting for water and others who arrived after us had been served. She said nothing!!! Not even 'sorry'!!! Unbelievable!

I was so disappointed!!! We used to live Café Bicyclette but after this experience we will never return.

This is a gem of a spot! Café Bicyclette is located in the heart of Edmonton's French quarter and it's menu reflects this. We stopped in for a light lunch and were very impressed with the authentic St-Viateur bagels. Their poutine is also more authentic than any we have had here in Edmonton. We loved the comfortable atmosphere and friendly wait staff. A...

Worst experience I've ever had. There are about 10 tables on the inside, and only about 3 were taken. Staff said it would be about 15-20 minute wait. We waited for 30 minutes and came in to ask if we can sit down. They said that kitchen is backed up and it will be a long wait for the food, we asked if we can sit anyways to wait inside, they said sure. We waited 20 minutes for them to bring some water and then 10 more to bring menus. It looked like kitchen was doing just fine, they had 5-10 dishes waiting to be taken. But oh my God are servers slow. There was at least one person who was just standing doing nothing. When we ordered food and drinks we asked if drinks can be brought first. We got our food pretty fast, maybe 30 minutes. It was pretty good however eggs tasted like rubber. My mom never got croissant, and her drink was served in plastic cup, they said they ran out of normal cups, however all the drinks after ours they served in normal cups. My mom asked if she can get a cup but they said no. My dad got wrong drink. We paid way too much for the kind of service we received. Staff was rude and again, VERY slow, considering that they weren't very busy. And again, it looked like kitchen was doing just fine, and there were always at least 3 dishes waiting to be served, some stayed there for 20 minutes. I will not be coming back here. If you want to receive decent cervice, you should come when there are barely any people, but I do not recommend this...
