Magma Donair — Restaurant in Edmonton

A friend of our has an annual donair ritual that she partakes in. The last couple of years we decided to join in on the ritual. Having seen good reviews about Magma donair, we decided to give them a try.

The staff we busy with orders and were very friendly. The young lady was eager to assist us with our order. The restaurant was clean and well kept. Menu boards are nice and large with an excellent selection. More than just donairs. They have subs, salads and a great variety of sides

I ordered a Magma sized mixed donair with sweet sauce. I was going to choose the mozza sticks as my side, but I decided to get the poutine instead. My wife ordered the a small chicken donair with garlic sauce with a side of onion rings. We ordered it to go and brought them home.

I opened the bag and I needed two hands to lift the medium sized Magma donair out. I wondered just how big the jumbo sized would be. The small was a good size as well. The poutine was hot and melty. If they used cheese curds, they were completed melted into the beautiful mess. We were missing something though. The onion rings.

The donair was tightly wrapped. I assume the owner has tremendous upper body strength with Popeye like forearms. I bet you could eat this donair with a full white suit on and never have it drip on me. The taste was fantastic. Chicken was tender and the beef was flavourful. Vegetables were crisp and fresh and they put plenty on. I tried the chicken donair and came upon a nice surprise that I had noticed in my donair and that was a little hummus inside the donair. Poutine was nicet and full.

We called Magma donair about the missing onion rings. We were tired and did not want to have to drive back just for onion rings. The owner gave us a credit for the rings for later. My wife went yesterday and got the onion rings and they also gave her a free beverage for the trouble. Super nice and just the type of great business practices that impress me.

I recommend Magma donair when you are craving some delicious local goodness with great service. I am getting a sub the next time....

This donair place! WOW! I've gone here a few times with my husband and it never lets me down. The prices are decent, everyone knows there's inflation (blah blah blah) but the portion sizes more than make up for that!

I have a usual now, Regular Donair with sweet sauce and a poutine. They are both amazing, the beef, the sauce! But the poutine...! I cant actually decide what I like more that's how good the poutine is, the fries are very crispy but then the gravy softens them up just the right way as it should! I read the other comments below, everyone recommends shawarma, I don't even know what that is I've never had it before, I'll do my best to order that next time but... my usual is pretty hard to beat.

I think the owner usually takes our order, he's very kind and polite and patiently goes over the ingredients list when you forget to select lol. And I really like the Just for Laughs tv show they have on while you're waiting for take out food, alot of the time I do actually laugh while watching it. I hope this place doesn't close, this is our new...

I was very excited to hear that Magma decided to make a home in my neighborhood.

The chicken and beef donairs were absolutely delicious. A terrific combination of perfectly seasoned meat, fresh vegetables, soft fresh pita, and on-point sauces, Magma’s donairs are top-tier. Vegetarian? No problem! The Falafel and Magma Veggie wraps are bursting with flavor and offer a fresh taste.

The poutines are definitely shareable items. From the Classic Poutine to the Magma Mix, each creation is a treasure box of delicious fries topped with savory, cheesy, goodness.

Looking for something a bit lighter? I absolutely loved the Magma Salad. A delicious Mediterranean salad with fresh veggies and perfect seasonings, it’s perfect for the summer. I added extra chicken to it for a bit of protein, and it came topped with THE BEST GARLIC SAUCE.
