Read moreMaybe it's just because I'm the wrong color. I've been eyeing up this restaurant for a few months and decided to stop in tonight and grab dinner. One of the reasons was I like Indian food and had a craving for roti. It says bar "good I can sit and have a beer while I order take out." Well it's not a bar, it's a order/pick up counter with a liquor cabinet behind it. It's not meant to sit at and enjoy anything. I asked for a beer and to look at the menu. I was handed the menu and asked if it was to go or stay. I said my food would be to go. I was handed an unopened can of beer and felt in the way when when someone showed up and needed the till for take out The menu is 7 pages long and I wanted to see my options. Apparently the white girl was taking to long to read and felt pressured into making a faster decision on food. After putting in my order I was told to move and wait in a booth. I did. I felt very uncomfortable when the front of house girl went to the kitchen and then they both came out to what felt like, look at me. When my food came from the kitchen I felt pressured to hurry up finish my beer take my food and go. Her exact words were, yeah here you go it's ready. THE ABSOLUTE BEST WAS MY ORDER CAME TO $20.44. I TRIED TO GIVE HER $23.00 WITH A TIP. SHE HANDED BACK THE TOONIE LIKE I WAS STUPID SAYING NO IT'S ONLY. AND SENT ME HOME WITH BURNT ROTI. This restaurant needs to learn inclusion...
Read moreI ordered twice through DoorDash based on glowing recommendations from friends, but honestly, I had a pretty disappointing experience both times. Maybe I just picked the wrong items?
The first time, I got the Papdi Chaat. It was okay, but the meethi chutney didnât quite hit the markâsomething was just off about it. Then I tried the Chole Kulche, which again was just fine. The chole did taste homemade, which some people might like, but when I order from a restaurant, I expect something more elevated. I didnât get the hype at all.
Still wanting to give them a fair shot, I tried the Chicken Samosa nextâpartly because Iâd never had one and it was only $3. But when I bit into it, it was basically just a veggie samosa. I literally found two tiny nodules that might have been chicken (photo attached). Considering the veg samosa is $2, I guess I paid a dollar for the idea of chicken?
Lastly, I ordered the Chicken White Sauce Pasta. I wish I hadnât. I genuinely think I could make a better pasta at home. It was under-sauced, overly seasoned with oregano, and for some reason, had chicken tikka in it. I didnât want Indian flavors in my pastaâthatâs why I didnât go for their so-called âfamousâ Makhani Pasta. The whole thing just didnât make sense and didnât taste good.
Iâm done trying. Not...
