First found this place in 1990's. We fell in love with meat pitas and plain pita bread!! After many years of having these, we thought they had closed down because they had closed the only location we knew of. We were very sad thinking they were no longer around. We saw another location but were unsure that it was them. To make a long story short we just decided to come to the store on 132 Ave and to our surprise IT WAS THE SAME WONDERFUL PEOPLE that had the place we enjoyed so much!! Asked and chatted with the son when we arrived and he told us YES its still the same family. We asked if he had taken it over for his dad and he assured us that dad was still there to!! We made our purchases and here comes dad out from the back with the tastiest treat for all of us to try! It was a bread with creamy cheese and green olives and cucumbers in it! It was a whole piece of pita to, needless to say we didnt need any lunch!! WOW it was so yummy! Thanks again DAD we absolutely loved ever bite of it!! We will continue to recommend your bakery and we definitely will be back for many more years!! Stay healthy and never lose your wonderful personalities. SEE YOU ALL...
Read moreInside the store itself it had assorted goods. Canned items such as grape leaves, olives, spices... There is a cooler with feta and some other assorted cheeses, there is also a deli section with olives and other condiments. There are stacks of pitas along the wall and behind the counter you can see the oven and pizzas being made.
As for food...I can only comment on the baklava as we went to check out the place and left buying the biggest size they had. It was the best I'd ever had and I guiltily admit my family of 4 devoured that within a few days. The sweetness of honey, the gooey phyllo dough, the crispy tops, the delicious nuts... You should definately try it... And not sickly sweet like grocery stores always sell. Just perfect.
The gentlemen who served us, I didn't get his name, but he also passed us fries and pitas, which were equally delicious. Highly...
Read moreI was first introduced to their yummy, chewy pita from various shawarma restaurants like Jerusalem shawarma. Since I had a craving, I headed out to their bakery and was super happy that I did! Lovely family run bakery with fresh, quality Lebanese items. The person behind the counter was sweet and friendly, he was holding his cute grandson while chatting and introducing me to various products. He generously fed me the meat pita, yogurt and olives, and then another pita pizza. All delicious! I ended up with a few bags of pita, 2 bags of meat pizza (which are delicious and easy to heat up AND can be frozen) and some hummus. I highly recommend, I will definitely be visiting again, making the trek from the south side! These family-run small businesses are what make our neighbourhoods and city...
