SFC Seoul Fried Chicken Northtown — Restaurant in Edmonton

First, this is the best fried chicken I have had in Edmonton and beyond. It was fresh, hot, nicely seasoned and not greasy. The fries were excellent, clearly cut and made in-house, not frozen from a bag. As for the coleslaw, I haven't had a slaw made primarily from carrots. Now that would be my preferred choice. It was flavourful but not slathered in sauce. Portion sizes were good. There was definitely value for quality and portions provided. Seoul Fried Chicken has completely replaced our prior fried chicken restaurant. Note, this not a sit down restaurant. Pre-ordering is recommended because they are popular. Note their chicken is not salty, like many restaurants, which is perfect for people with sodium restrictions and the pieces of chicken were a decent size. The one thing I would recommend is to have ingredients that are common allergens listed on the website. I realize the some are obvious by the name of the dish, but others aren't. I first visited SFC Seoul Chicken about five years ago at their Wye Road location, and back then, I remember the food quality and flavor being outstanding. Unfortunately, my recent experience was disappointing.

I ordered 8 pieces of original fried chicken and 8 pieces of sweet BBQ.

After being mixed with the Sweet BBQ sauce, the chicken turned very dry and lost its flavour.

Both the original and BBQ versions were far too salty.

When I opened the box, I noticed that a few pieces of the original fried chicken looked different in colour and quality compared to the others, which raised concerns about consistency.

I was really excited to try a new Korean restaurant on the north side, but I ended up quite disappointed. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning.
