This is the best Indian food I have ever eaten! Yesterday I thought I’d treat myself to a delivered lunch & ended up ordering dinner as well. I ordered the Lamb & potato wrap combo, chose the chickpea salad & it came with 1 gulub what do you call it - delish that’s what. For dinner I ordered the butter chicken platter, add on veggie samosa & garlic nann on the side. Well for $34 I got enough food to feed an army. The quality, well, I’ve never been a guest to an authentic homemade Indian dinner but this is what I’d imagine it to be like, cooked with care by someone’s mom. Seriously, so flavourful, not greasy at all, super fresh ingredients. The chickpea salad blew me away, who’d of thunk? Drizzle on some of that mint sauce I got with the lamb wrap & bam! There’s a bit of spice, oh so nice. Mmmmmmm, gawd! The lamb wrap was full of quality meat, potato & veg, holy s*#t, I’m in heaven. I could only eat 1/2 it’s HUGE! Then I had dinner well, let me tell you, yes I’m Caucasian & I ordered the butter chicken but hey, it was my first time ordering from here & if you can’t do butter chicken right then you can’t do anything else right. So this is my test - I can’t describe the warm fuzzies that followed on the first bite. Large pieces of again quality chicken meat, lots, in a thick delicious not over the top gravy, I have died & gone to heaven!!! The samosa was so flavourful, not greasy & the sauce, wow, I’m a sauce girl, it met all my needs. The garlic nann was the bomb, enough for 6 people, gaaaarlicky, mm-mmmm-good. The only thing I did not like was the pickled mango, thought I’d give it a try, it’s just not for me, some kind of spice I’ve never met before. Would it be wrong to order from here for all my meals to replace buying groceries? The menu is massive with tons of vegetarian options too. I hope that makes you hungry, give them a try, new location in Nanaimo Center! I’ll be eating for days...
Read moreI initially became familiar with Nosh in north Edmonton - Namao area. It was phenomenal. Never had a let down in any aspect.
Reading the reviews, it seems the 124th location has a massive disparity in quality between eating in and take-out. The take-out here has been less than spectacular on a few occasions now.
When an order of multiple dishes and rice are ready in less than 10 minutes, you definitely have to question how fresh it is. 100% check your naan before you leave with it. Our garlic naan was definitely not garlic and was definitely not fresh. It had hardened crusts on all sides so you know it had been sitting.
On previous orders I showed up before the food was actually ready and watched them toss the samosas in the microwave rather than keeping them fresh.
Service wise... seems it depends on the day. One time you give the front counter guy your name, he passes you the terminal, puts the food on the counter immediately ignores you to chat with the kitchen staff. Wouldn't call it rude but very abrupt and unexpectedly stand-offish. Other times you have a really lovely time and get amazing service. We all have days and we can't be on point every day but just be ready for what can come across as abrupt service.
Overall, probably not coming back here for a while. There's a lot of really amazing naan in the city and I don't want to be paying...
Read moreI ordered delivery from this place for my lunch at work. I ordered coconut rice, butter chicken, garlic naan, and veggie samosas. When my lunch was delivered an hour later, the bag only contained the coconut rice and 2 samosas. I immediately called the restaurant to inform them that my entire main dish was missing (how does that even happen?) and they blamed it on my delivery driver, saying he must’ve forgotten to grab the entirety of my food. He said that there was another delivery driver on the way with my butter chicken and naan. That was a lie, there was no other driver on the way. I then got in touch with the delivery and he said that he was only given the one bag of food which he delivered to me, and that the restaurant is responsible for ensuring that the food is packaged properly with all the items contained in the order. So I guess they just forgot to pack the most important part of my order and tried to blame it on the poor delivery driver.
It was extremely disappointing. Not only did I waste $45, but I got no lunch out of it except for two samosas. The samosas were decent. The coconut rice was not edible as it was far too sweet and it’s more like a dessert, plus it was completely dry since I had no butter chicken to go with it...
