Tisto Cakes — Restaurant in Edmonton

Okay. So I was born in Brazil and lived there for 28 years. Did you ever watch cake boss? He makes cakes that have more than just your usual ganache or whipped cream. Brazilian cake is unlike any other I had. I ate a lot of cake in Montreal and Ottawa searching for one that would be as good and I found it. It was a Brazilian chef. She won awards and stuff then went on to move far away and take her cakes and desserts with her. I stopped looking a while ago already. Just ordered these mousse desserts from titos and what do you know? It's better than Brazilian cake! Think different textures, different layers and actually creative flavours! Too bad I'm going back to Quebec soon. The pistachio raspberry was my favourite. The honey cake? I always wanted to try the midolvinik, or honey cake, I couldn't bring myself to try to do it without ever having tasted it. After being a mom my time is very short and my patience for frustration is always at low capacity. I finally had a taste of it! I think it's a cake inspired by it actually. I have no doubt the flavour must...

Absolutely delish!

We tried this place out a few weeks back and have had the strawberry-grapefruit dessert, the black current-lime dessert, pistachio-cherry dessert, pistachio-lime-raspberry dessert and a few of their macarons. Each item was incredibly tasty but my favorite is the strawberry-grapefruit dessert.

Some have noted that the prices are higher than they are accustom to however in this case, you get what you pay for - something that is incredibly delicious and made from good quality ingredients. Personally, I would rather buy 1 of something amazing then, 3 of something cheap and unsatisfying.

What you will not be getting is something that is sickly sweet, dry yet oily cake and all the usual problematic issues with cakes made with poor quality...

I’m sorry to say I’m not impressed with the cake I ordered. I stopped by the store in Windermere early on a Thursday and with the help of the lady working at the counter, looked at various cakes on display and ordered one for pick up the next Saturday afternoon. This was for a special birthday celebration. Certainly, the cake was beautiful and nicely packaged, but it was obviously not freshly baked. In fact, I think she gave me the exact display cake that might have been in the store for who knows how long. Besides not tasting fresh, the fillings were without any real flavour. The only positive comment I got on the cake was that it was pretty. Sorry, will not be ordering another cake or referring any friends...
