TORA BOBA — Restaurant in Edmonton

We placed an order online for their signature Tora golden milk tea around 2:30pm today. When we came to pick it up, we found out that they couldn't even make our drinks because they ran out of their milk tea as well as golden boba.

The lady at the front told us that we could substitute it with thai green milk tea instead and when I asked if they had brown sugar boba, apparently they ran out of that too. It was our first time having thai green milk tea so we didn't know what flavour to expect. However, the drink was just so-so, not particularly what my partner and I wanted because it tasted like diluted green tea with a hint of floral aftertaste?? I don't think we would order it again if we were to revisit as it didn't suit our palette.

They did apologize to us when handing the drinks but we left feeling unsettled. Honestly, our overall experience was quite disappointing since it didn't feel that great coming in and having to change our order to something completely different than what we originally wanted to try. I wanted to share my initial impressions.

The space is barebones for decor and board game selection (which is OK by me given as they've been open for a month, as I was told). However, I'm focused more on the boba tea experience.

I had two milk teas: pandan milk (less ice + boba added) and tora golden milktea (regular ice). I felt the ice content was disproportionate to the milk tea regardless of "regular" or "less ice" options. The drinks themselves tasted good but were outweighed by how little of them I received relative to the ice. Ice in the regular option literally took up 75% of the cup while less ice option was 50%. Additionally, the boba was tasty as well but was less than half of what is normally provided at other establishments. It didnt feel worth it for the amount paid.

While I love local businesses and want to see them thrive, I didn't have the most optimal experience this time around for this one. Hopefully, it was a one-off since there are lots of other good reviews on this...

Such a cozy little spot. The most adorable tiger eared lids on their cups. Amazing staff, great tasting drinks. Points system is a plus too! However I am beggingggg y'all to make your jelly in smaller pieces 🥺 It's too big and long it's so awkward and I have to fight to get it in the straw most times. I'm usually left with a quickly finished tea and a wasted pile of jelly at the bottom of the cup :( Would also like to see a slightly larger portion as I feel it's not on par with the generous portions of competing shops. Tora Boba is down the street from me and I would love to buy more frequently, but the jelly size being incompatible with the straw makes for such a frustrating drink experience. This is the only reason I end up spending more to deliver from tiger sugar instead of walking over to Tora. Please reference their shop for an ideal jelly size, they're very small and come through the straw easily, it's perfect. Would also love to see grass jelly on...
