Went to the drive through this evening. First time (and likely last) visiting a Swiss Chalet/Harvey's in many years. Thought I'd try it as a healthier fast food alternative. First off, price was a bit of sticker shock. Over 17.00 for a club chicken wrap. Asked what was in it. First employee at window wasn't sure, second one was. I asked if the sandwich was pre -assembled or if they make it to order. Told it's made to order so I asked if I could swap out swiss cheese for other cheese. Told no, this was the recipe and they weren't allowed to modify. Was expecting Harvey's style of build your own so that was a surprise too..I understand in a 5 star restaurant the chef balances flavours to perfection but a drive through wrap??? She helpfully offered to hold the swiss and give (sell) not sure which, a slice of cheddar on the side. I said sure, thank you. Got to the window, received a big box in a big bag. Inside was the wrap with a slice of american cheese (not cheese) wrapped in paper. Drove away - fumbled in the dark to open it as I was a rookie with this packaging. 5 or so minutes down the road, took my first bite expecting great things...ugh...the wrap itself had sear marks and was warm. The chicken inside was stone cold - not even slightly warmed. Ended up waiting to get home to heat the sandwich. Checked before I left this review to see if the sandwich was indeed supposed to be hot...it is, and it was not. Giant let down (one note, post heating), the flavour is fine but it will definitely be a very long time before I'll try this...
Read moreThe restaurant has messed up my order (missing items) twice in a little over a month. I’m tired of the excuses as well as having to drive back to get it corrected. I was offered a genuine and unsolicited apology the first time it happened. The second time it happened, I get attitude like I’m supposed to just accept the mistake. You spend good money and you should receive your full order. A bill credit doesn’t make it right when it’s signature items that are missing.
Update 02/12: The restaurant reached out to me to make it right and has made a commitment to improve on future orders. Rating changed from 1 star to 5.
Update 11/27: I visit the restaurant for a Festive Family Feast after placing my order through the Swiss Chalet app. I ordered the chicken as “Make it 6 legs” and found I had two halves when I got home. The excuse I received over the phone was it shouldn’t have been an option. At no point while I was waiting at the restaurant for the order to be prepared did anyone approach me to let me know a substitution needed to be made. Obviously no improvement in service level has been made. 1 star service and can’t recommend anyone dine at this...
Read moreVery disappointed in our experience at the Swiss Chalet in Angus this past Saturday night. We ordered online and paid in advanced (including tip) for curbside pickup. My husband arrived and checked in, he then received the confirmation that he was checked in. He sat there in the curbside pickup parking spot for nearly 30 minutes then decided to go in to see what the hold up was. He then sees the order sitting on the counter in which he was told they have a hard time seeing the parking spot so they didn’t know he was there. What is the point of checking in and having a designated parking spot if they aren’t actively checking?
The food was now cold and the packaging so soggy that a box had broke. They also decided to put the gravy on the poutine’s instead of on the side like takeout should be done, so our poutine was soggy. Not only that, but we only received 3 of the 5 coleslaws that came with our 5 rib orders.
Overall, it was a disappointing cold dinner after spending almost $200. My advice would be to not order online, and also not tip in advance since even with our tip - they did not care for our...
