Freshies Cafe — Restaurant in Fernie

I used to love Freshies back when I lived in Fernie in 2015 and 2016. Coming back to town, I figured I would give the new location a try. While the actual coffee might be good, I would not recommend the matcha latte. Paid $6 for a drink that was two-thirds full, and basically flavoured milk. There was barely any matcha in it. I do like that they took Infinitea's concept and offer open mic nights and some boozy coffees and cocktails (since Infinitea permanently closed down), and they feature a cute local artist section of purchaseables. Had the weekend special breakfast of Freshies Eggs Benedict. Eggs were really good, hollandaise was really good, presentation was nice. BUT it was not served on an english muffin, and there was no description of the plate, so I could not have known prior to being plated. It was served on a too thick, too hard piece of baguette. I love a baguette used for french toast but not an eggs benny. Eggs benny should have soft, melt in your mouth type of bread. It was very difficult to cut, and the bread would fly off the plate. My friend's piece of egg literally slipped off the plate onto her lap as she was trying to cut. For what it's worth my recommendation is to swap out the baguette and use a good...

As someone who was passing through town (but we often do come and vacation for longer).. I was excited to finally try this Cafe. I entered and the girls working said they'd be right with me. One made eye contact and smiled. I stood on the sticker that says stand here (previously for distancing) and waited for her to be ready to take my order before getting back on the road. It ended up being a good 6 or 7 minutes and she then came up and starting helping folks who had just walked in. Regulars it seems.
