The Brickhouse — Restaurant in Fernie

Hi - we are visiting Fernie and had a very disappointing experience at your restaurant this evening. In anticipation of an exciting dinner out, we called ahead to see if there were any tables but nobody would answer the phone. So we decided to make our way over and upon entering, all tables were full. It was great to see how busy your restaurant was and we were looking forward to experiencing the food and atmosphere we’ve heard so much about. We waited for a few minutes, tried to flag down at least 2 servers, and had many empty stares from staff near the bar, however nobody would approach us to ask if we wanted a table. After approximately 15 minutes, one of the individuals stepped forward to inform us that the band was about to play, the kitchen was 45 minutes delayed and we probably wouldn’t get a table. Had we been approached when we initially entered, this would have been acceptable however it was beyond disappointing to find this out after trying to call ahead and then having a lengthy wait time. You may not feel the need to respond, and that’s okay, that’s how we understand The Brickhouse operates. We simply wanted to share this experience with you as we hope that you’ll use this as an opportunity to improve your customer service. Unfortunately, we don’t plan on visiting The Brickhouse in the near future and won’t encourage other friends of ours who frequent...

I went to the brickhouse for an anniversary dinner, the food was lovely no complaints. me and my partner ordered 4 dishes all to share, aswell as 4 drinks totalling $130+ (drinks from a glass not cocktails) when it came to the bill and tipping side of things i tipped what i could afford ($5) $5 from my pocket extra that was not required ontop of the bill. not by BC law. the waitress was visablly angry and annoyed and went and spoke to her, im assuming manager and was shaking her head looking at our repeipt. As we went to leave, she pulled us aside and asked us if the service was okay, which i replied it was fine, and we had no issues. she then procceded to ridicule us for not tipping more and how she will now have to pay her staff out of pocket as we didnt tip the reccomended %18 (an extra $25, another meal for us both at the end of the day) i was shocked and appauled and have never come across such rude and out of pocket bahaviour from a server who is receving extra money for a gratudity. if you can not pay your staff adaquite wages, dont open a business and dont rely on your customers to pay your staffs wages so you get a bigger bonus. like i said the food was great and i would have reccomened it to alot of people thus resulting in more revenue for the business but not i will not be reccomending this restraunt to anyone and wish i could take my $5 back and use it for something more usefull.

We went for lunch. We were told when we came in that food was an hour away, but we were new to Fernie and didn't have another place to go. So we waited. And boy are we glad we did. The staff were obviously stressed with the number of people that had come in, but they were great. We always felt like we were being taken care of even when they were so busy. We ordered calamari to start. Well, that was a good choice. Cut in house, corn meal fried, tender and beautiful. Then we each ordered burgers. Four people, four different burgers. All amazing. I don't use that term lightly. When is the last time you went to a restaurant and had a 5 out of 5 food order that were all a smash hit. That never happens. And pay the 3 bucks extra for the truffle fries. Totally worth it. We are going back. Next time I want the braised beef ribs. This place is fantastic. If you are from out of town or local, you should go there. We don't revisit a lot of restaurants, but we will be revisiting this one. Fantastic food and drinks. Great service. Feels like home. You guys rocked...
