My daughter ordered from here a few weeks ago and when I was in Fernie today, figured I would give it a try. I've lived in Elkford for over 40 years and the last time I was in The Old Elevator was about 30 years or so ago with my parents for Italian Food. I don't eat out much any more, but after a super busy month and week at work did not want to drive back home after errands to cook.

I ordered the dinner for 6 thinking there would be leftovers for a couple days for lunches at work as typically you don't get enough food to "pig out" and do that. I was wrong lol.

Generous portions! Very generous. I have to agree with everyone raving about the Ginger Beef - It is one of the best I've had in a long time! 2 of the dishes on the dinner are full of vegetables which I really like. I can always make more rice to go with them. Sweet and Sour and Lemon chicken very good - I like the fact the Lemon Chicken had flavor cooked in - not just added by sauce. And the Salt and Pepper Shrimp had a nice kick. All the dishes taste different which they are supposed to and it's good!

What else to say - the free spring rolls with the order are an appreciated bonus, quick friendly service and more food than I now know what to do with.

My one suggestion would be to put the round plastic containers on top of the Styrofoam in the to go bag. With it being top heavy, tipped over and juices leaked on the way home. But they stayed in the plastic bag and just wiped down the counter...

What a great place! There are a lot of great food options in Fernie but we were craving some comfort food in the form of some great Chinese food. We arrived at 6:30 on a rainy fall night. There was only one other table with people but it seemed that most that night were getting takeout as there was a constant parade of people coming in for pickup. We ordered spring rolls, beef & broccoli and the house special chow mein. Kit our sever (owner?) recommended the wonton soup and we said yes as we had been considering it. We split a small bowl and it was fantastic. A very simple but tasty broth that was perfectly seasoned (don’t add soy sauce) and dense wontons. It was fantastic! The other two dishes arrived just heaping with fresh vegetables and thankfully not over-sauced Like some places are known to do. Everything was perfect. Piping hot food, everything tasting and looking fresh and lots of it. I think we made it halfway through all of it so we have enough for dinner another night. The dishes were about $20 each but considering we easily get 2 meals out of it, that’s like $10 a serving which I think is very reasonable. The decor is not fancy but it’s fine. Kit is very efficient and attentive. One of the best meals of this type I’ve...

This was the absolute worst meal we have ever had in Fernie, being long time locals. We got take out one week ago (I sent them a message about it with no response so now leaving a review) We had to throw it in the garbage, it was not edible. We got the dinner for 2 at around 8pm and it seemed like it was very old food, cold, dry, unpleasant, maybe it came from the nightly buffet... The chow mein was starchy and inedible, the spring rolls had a funny taste and were inedible, the ginger beef was dry and stale. Just awful. It was almost $75 for 2 of us and we couldn't even eat it. They also put a $2 charge on our bill which is usually for substitutions but we didn't make any... Was hoping they might rectify the situation and maybe just had a bad night but am now writing the review to warn people DO...

I recently dined at an old Chinese restaurant in Fernie, British Columbia, and it left quite an impression. This establishment has a rich historical charm that takes you back in time. The interior is well-maintained and remarkably clean, preserving its authentic ambiance. The highlight, of course, is the food. The flavors were a delightful journey through traditional Chinese cuisine, and the dishes were prepared with care and expertise. It's evident that the chefs take pride in their culinary skills. However, it's worth noting that this historical gem comes with a price tag. The dining experience here is on the pricier side, which might not be suitable for every budget. But if you're willing to splurge a bit, it's an excellent place to savor both Chinese cuisine and local history.

Chinese food with stereotypical small town breading on everything. Couldn’t tell a shrimp from a dry rib. The ginger beef was hard and crusty with no flavour. When you found the shrimp, they were bland. I ordered chow mein and it was mediocre and sticky, my wife had steam rice, which was Like cold minute rice. We picked up a to go order as soon as it was supposed to be done. There was actually some ginger beef that was cold to touch like it been in the fridge. $80 not well spent. No chance of going back wouldn’t waste my time

Amazing food for the soul! Cooked with heart 💜 I would give 10 🌟 out of 10! Highly recommend this place. We had Wonton soup, noodles, and ginger beef. Everything was fresh, crispy and delicious. The size of portions is huge! The owner was very kind and welcoming. The setting is comfortable too but no windows in the building, unfortunately. The bathroom was remarkably clean. We got traditional cookie 🍪 with prediction at the end and even those were so accurate and on spot. Beautiful place and great people!
