This was by far the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. It was bland! All of it. No taste whatever except salt. I had the combo meal with chow mein, chicken fried rice, deep fried prawns and a spring roll. (Note: They advertise it as egg roll but then repeatedly correct you on the phone calling it a spring roll. Well then why do you advertise as egg roll? There’s a difference!) We then ordered 2 additional “spring rolls” which turned out to be actual egg rolls! To say we were confused in an understatement. They were incredibly flat, nothing to them! Veggie and no meat. And also tasted bad. Not to mention the food STUNK! My husband had chow mein, ginger beef and chicken balls. He said the taste of the beef was just okay, but that it was so incredibly tough he felt like he was eating leather. He said the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken balls is very weird too. It doesn’t taste like ANY of the others we’ve had, and not enjoyable. I’ve read this on FB comments as well. The reviews were mixed so we decided to try it for ourselves. What a complete waste of money.
It’s also just Sung’s rebranded. ...
Read moreSingapore noodles are my favorite. Delicate vermicelli rice noodles, coated in turmeric, red chili powder and a host of other " secret " spices. ( they must be secret, because I can't replicate it at home, even with a recipe ) The dish came to my table with steam vapors of those unmistakable aromas exciting my senses. Mouth watering. The shrimp were juicy, tender, hot in temperature and big ! Shocked at the size, actually. Again. The size I'd serve guests at home. The pork. Another headliner star of this dish. Flavourful, tender, plentiful. There was a healthy amount of crisp cabbage to add some crunchy texture, and again, flavour. Tiny, tiny hint of carrot and red pepper to round it out. If I could give 11 stars out of a 10 star rating, it would be 11. Oh...and last, but not least. The portion was HUGE. It's nice to experience this, first hand and not read someone else's post and feel just a little bit jealous. Super friendly atmosphere and staff. Even Chef popped by to ask how it was, as he strolled...
Read moreI placed a pickup order over the phone, and the staff estimated a 45-minute wait. I opted for the four-item combo, the chow-mein was fantastic, the sweet & sour chicken balls were equally delicious, very good quality chicken & the on side sauce was great. As for the egg rolls, they leaned more toward spring rolls, and I'm still on the hunt for a truly great egg roll in FSJ. While waiting inside, I noticed the phones were ringing off the hook, and things seemed a bit hectic, but that’s to be expected with any new restaurant in its early days. Once they find their rhythm, I’ll definitely be back for...
