The Canadian Brewhouse & Grill (Fort St. John) — Restaurant in Fort St. John

First off, the food is great. It's the only reason I would decide to come back. Appetizers galore, great mains, hearty servings, decent price. The chefs do a great job in giving pub food a new standard. The downside? Here we go.

You'll wait 30min for a scantily clad server to come over and take your drink order, only to forget and bring over waters. Said waters are supposed to last until she finishes her 20 minute conversation with a table of friends she can't be pulled away from. So you'll approach another server, who happens to be picking up the slack of the doe head server and has a full section herself. You're afraid you've just given this new server an aneurysm with your request and patiently wait behind your now empty glass of water. The stressed out server has now recovered from whatever stroke you just gave her, and takes your order while doe head is now chatting up the bartender. Doe head notices your empty water glass and saunters over to fill it, then heads back to the bartender to casually make the drinks you requested almost 40 minutes ago. Stressed out server rushes over with our order just before she explodes, and asks which server took our drink order. Without even pointing she assumes it's doe head, and we agree with nervous laughs hoping this poor girl doesn't self implode.

While we enjoyed a pair of John Candy burgers, doe head was hauled into the kitchen and failed to make an appearance the rest of the night. We tipped the energizer bunny and thanked her for being so attentive, but I doubt it made up for what she had to deal...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Canadian Brewhouse tonight was extremely disappointing. Despite the restaurant being very empty, it took 25 minutes for anyone to greet me, and another 10 minutes for my beer to arrive. I ordered a pizza, and while it was flavourful, it was so greasy that it was nearly inedible. To make matters worse, the server didn’t provide napkins or cutlery which I could’ve used to soak up the grease or to attempt to eat it less messily, and when she finally returned, I decided to box up the pizza to go and ask for the bill immediately.

I travel frequently for work and eat out almost daily, so I have a fair amount of experience with restaurant service. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst service I’ve had in the past 4 years.

I understand that things can get busy, but there was no sense of urgency despite the lack of a crowd. As my fiancee is a restaurant manager herself, I know how important it is to attend to guests promptly. Even though the service was subpar, I still tipped 18%, but I do hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously to help improve service for future customers.

I believe every restaurant can have an off night, but the lack of care for customer experience last night...

Went for dinner with a friend from out of town. No one to greet you, the first few tables we tried to sit at had not been fully cleaned, a huge puddle of something on the floor by the one available booth we initially went to sit at. No wet floor sign. Finally, we found a table in the corner and then were handed very noticeably stained and sticky menus. My guest ordered her meal without onions. She emphasized this a few times to our server, and when she received her meal, it was littered with onions. All in all, I'm not giving a low star because our server was amazing.. once we finally got around to being served. We had to go up to the bar to get napkins but the server compt my friends meal and was very sympathetic. She definitely held it down and this establishment should be thankful for her. Wish I would have taken my receipt because I don't remember her name. Tall young gal with dark hair and a dagger tattoo on her forearm. She really turned our experience around, and we both left happy.. Will return, honestly, in case it happened to just be one of "those nights" and be lucky enough to sit in her section again.. come to think of it, her name might have...
