One of the few BBQ places in Sechelt, but this one has the best location. Right at the end of the wharf in Gibsons over looking the marina. It's a small walkup place where you order from the menu and can either takeout or sit out back. It's very small as only has a couple tables or a couple rows of counter seats. But the views are amazing while you munch on the food! We ordered the platter for 4 and a smoked jackfruit sandwich. The food came within a reasonable amount of time. However, we sat at a table outside so we could see the kitchen prep area. Heard the sound of microwaves and seeing the cook cut into plastic bags to pour out the meat. I was bracing for a pretty bad food experience. The meat portions seemed a tad small (for a $120 platter). I wish they included BBQ ribs, it had everything but ribs. Surprisingly, the meat was pretty good. Very tender and tasty, although I felt the pulled pork was a bit under sauced. The chicken breast was very moist and had Alabama (vinegar based) sauce on it, not my favorite but flavourful. The jackfruit sandwich was probably the best tasting part of all the food. Tender jackfruit in a rich sauce (we actually asked for more of that sauce so we could use on the meat). The highlight of the platter were the sides. Huge mountain of crispy fries with seasoning salt. The fried mac and cheese squares were crisp on the outside and nicely al dente inside with a decent amount of cheese flavour. The corn flan were like mini quiches, but not as dense. Nice big pile of kale coleslaw with vinegar dressing (tasted like the same one no the chicken breast). The bread was nice, ciabatta rolls buttered and grilled so they were soft and flavourful. We ended up making a couple of mini sandwiches with those. The beans were under cooked so they were not the soft baked beans we were expecting.

Simply exceptional food created by someone who is a truly talented chef. We loved it here. We were greeted and welcomed with such friendliness and courtesy we instantly felt relaxed kicking back on the dock. We missed out eating here last year when we visited, so this was top of the list this year. We ordered the shrimp tacos, the bbq brisket sandwich, fries and a mango frangipane tart. The shrimp tacos were a sensation, juicy shrimp fried to perfection with a crisp fresh salad. The bbq brisket sandwich was beyond good. Super tender, created by a bbq pit master the brisket just fell apart and into my mouth so quickly. Served with a refreshing kale coleslaw. Glorious food. The fries deserve their own mention as they are quite possibly the best I have ever had. Hand cut, perfectly crisp and seasoned well. Now the desert. Oh my goodness this is the best baked bite of the month long trip. We have eaten some wonderful baked delights around Vancouver and the Island but this is by far the best. Beautifully light crisp pastry, encasing a generous amount of frangipane which itself was not too sweet, just the perfect counterpoint to the fresh mango sitting on top. This was perfection. What a wonderful place to eat. Forget being lured into other places at Gibsons, just wander down onto the dock, it’s on the right hand side on the water. We will be back for sure. Thank you chaps for making food heaven a reality.

Smoke on the Water – A BBQ Lover’s Paradise! If you're a fan of bold flavors and comfort food done right, Smoke on the Water is an absolute must-visit. This place delivers on every level, starting with their brisket — hands down some of the best I've ever had. It's rich, juicy, and bursting with that perfect smoky flavor that only true BBQ masters can achieve. The deep-fried mac and cheese is outrageously good — crispy on the outside, creamy and cheesy on the inside. Pair that with their classic coleslaw and signature BBQ sauce, and you've got yourself a plate of pure happiness. What makes it even better? The atmosphere. You’re dining outdoors on a dock, with the water just steps away — it's relaxing, scenic, and the perfect complement to the comfort food experience. Whether you're a BBQ connoisseur or just looking for a great meal with a view, Smoke on the Water is the place to be. Five stars and then some!
