The Lion's Den Pub — Restaurant in Grande Prairie

I really like the aesthetic. The server was very friendly and nice to deal with. I was in a big rush yesterday, had to be in Sexsmith for 1:00, tight schedule yesterday. I had my friend order for me before I got there, and mentioned I was in a hurry when I did arrive. My friend ordered me a beef dip and fries. Well, about 30 minutes after he ordered I told the server to cancel my order I had to leave. She checked to see how long, came back and said "one minute". Well, it was one minute, and I was in a hurry, and wound up being late by those couple extra minutes. My fault for agreeing to wait, I should have just left.

Ok first, the beef dip and au jus was Really Good. I was surprised because I usually avoid the Den because I've had numerous disappointing meals there over the years. This was great, thank you.

The fries were appallingly bad. In my youth I worked a few different restaurants, change you fryer oil! Google my choice of word, appalling, I am not exaggerating. How you manage fries that are super brown on the outside, have a burnt oil flavour, and limp mush on the inside... One of them had that look where a couple fries fall out of the basket and land on the slide/ramp/guide thing that the help the baskets fall back into the fryer, and then the fries sit partially in the oil and the tips burn, so you get half inch of totally burnt fry, and the rest is soft and defrosted but not cooked. Well, none of them were cooked, but that particular one told me the guy scooped up the crap from the ramp and included it in my order.

I like your restaurant, I appreciate the last bunch of years have been hard, and I like the way you have supported many local non profits and such over the years, I'll be back over the years, and the beef dip really was excellent. But when I'm in a hurry, either hussle up or just tell me it can't be done, that would have been totally...

On Friday, January 26, at 10:00 pm, we received from the girl at the entrance the worst treatment and customer service that I have experienced in Canada. A girl with glasses and black hair, who is in charge of registering people who arrive, was too rude. Here's the story: We had an outing with friends and after being in a restaurant eating and having a few drinks, we wanted to dance and continue the night. We decided to go to the Den despite the bad comments that come from there. When we arrived we registered but one of my friends didn't have ID, she had left it at home. She is 40 years old, it is not common for her to ask for ID. We told the girl that if she could make an exception, we were really looking to have fun, we were 10 women and 2 men (between 30 and 50 years old). The girl at the entrance said it was impossible because if we brought a weapon or drugs, they needed to have a record of us. I understand that they should do it but there are cases of cases... the girl responded badly to anything we asked, she was even rude when she told us about the ID. We stood at the entrance debating what to do... it was cold outside and there was no one waiting to enter. The girl YELLED AT US TO GET OUT OF THERE WE WERE IN THE WAY… She said “GET AWAY NOW”. Hey what is this? We got too upset. We are not girls. We were well-dressed, well-groomed women with organized lives. We don't deserve that treatment, plus the entrance and the place were empty. Too disappointed in their customer service staff. They need good training in kindness and respect for people older than them and...

I always tip and generously as I have been a waitress before . I didn't tip . The service was horrible . She barely came to our table, and when she did, she seemed irritated and bothered she had to . She was so busy gossiping with the other girl there . Even to leave to pay, we stood there as they gossiping and had to ask for a box for the pizza . She rudly grabs and shoves it towards me, all irrated looking . Then we I go back to my table and box his pizza for him . As we were leaving, she loudly said how rude no tip to her coworker she was gossiping with the whole time . There were three other people there it wasn't busy and two waitresses. I had coffee, and she cared less about refilling it. I had to ask after trying hard to get her attention. She would walk by. I'd try, and she kept walking . I finally got a refill . We were the only table in...
