Buddy Wonton Seafood might initially seem like a typical Chinese eatery specializing in seafood and wonton dishes, but it’s a delightful surprise for those craving authentic Sichuan cuisine. Tucked away in its unassuming location, this gem delivers bold and fiery flavors that rival even dedicated Sichuan restaurants. The standout feature of Buddy Wonton Seafood is its ability to balance a diverse menu, seamlessly incorporating both classic Cantonese-style seafood dishes and authentic Sichuan staples. The menu offers a range of choices, but Sichuan lovers will be drawn to its perfectly executed dishes like the mapo tofu, spicy boiled fish (shuizhu yu), and the fiery kung pao chicken. Each dish is packed with signature Sichuan flavors, blending the numbing heat of Sichuan peppercorns with rich, savory sauces. What sets Buddy Wonton Seafood apart is their commitment to authenticity. Unlike many places that tone down Sichuan spices, they deliver the real deal. The hot and sour soup strikes a balance between tanginess and heat, while the dry-fried green beans are tender yet infused with a smoky, umami-packed seasoning. The seafood options, while traditionally Cantonese, are also well-prepared and fresh, creating a unique blend of regional Chinese cooking styles under one roof. Service is efficient, and the staff are knowledgeable about their dishes, happy to guide customers who may not be familiar with Sichuan cuisine. The ambiance is modest but welcoming, making it a perfect spot for casual dining. For those craving authentic Sichuan food in an unexpected setting, Buddy Wonton Seafood is a hidden treasure. Its ability to deliver regional authenticity alongside seafood classics makes it a must-visit for adventurous diners. Don’t miss out on this flavorful fusion of Chinese culinary traditions.

If I would have known the restaurant was closing before I ordered I would not have ordered almost $60 worth of food I cant eat. I just got out of the hospital and thought it would be nice to have "beef brisket hot pot" and what I got was not beef at all, a soft unknown soft black looking meat, some vegetables in a weird yellow sauce. Attached is photo of food I did NOT eat. I also ordered a "lunch special" of "Szechuan beef and chicken fried rice", im sure that is what you get from when it was served at lunch because the rice was thick, stuck together and over cooked with burnt brown egg pieces, some green peas and no chicken. The "Szechaun beef" was soft long pieces of odd beef with soft batter around it with a bit of spicy sauce, not what I thought was good. Both of these items were poorly packaged and leaked everyone but it was mostly the "beef brisket hot pot" that spilled on everything in the bag. The eggroll was a small pillow soaked in grease, the green onion cake had no green onions and was VERY dry. I also ordered a "berry smoothie" that wasnt all berries and I cant quite say exactly what was in there. As I write out this horrible review from the toliet I suggest not ordering from here unless you want a sore stomach and other things going on that doesnt feel good throughout your body. I will never order from here again, I am trully disapointed when all I wanted was to come home from the hospital to eat. Now things are worse.

My mom and my aunt went for lunch yesterday and told me about their experience. I was not there personally but this review is submitted on behalf of them. They arrived for lunch around noon on a Wednesday. There were a few tables each with a couple of occupants. They ordered 2 dim sum dishes and a rice pot. The dim sum itself was relatively cheap at $6. The minced beef and egg rice was $16.30. They were charged for tea which was standard. They were informed that the tea they chose was premium which would cost more. That’s a bit much. On top of that, their teapot was barely refilled. Multiple times, servers walked right past the opened pot (indicating it needed to be refilled). They were gifted 2 coconut crème dessert bunnies as it was their first time there. The issue came when the bill arrived. For 3 items plus tea, it came to $48. When my mom questioned it, it became apparent that the GST added onto the bill was a whopping 54% rather than 5% (as it has said on the bill). The subtotal was $31.30 plus “a GST OF $17.05”. Had my aunt and mom not pay attention and just tapped their card, they would have paid that. The server proceeded to shove the bill from the neighbouring table into my aunts face to show her that their bill was correct. Perhaps it’s a computer glitch. But the 5% GST should be automated on their cash register. Not sure how it came out to be 54%. So be warned if you do go, check your bill!

Do not come here. I'm painfully eating a meal that is not worth the price. The BBQ pork came out overcooked, bland, and not hot - it looked and tasted like it was previously frozen (NOT FRESH).

The green onion cakes came out with no sauce. So the only sauces on the table are spy sauce and vinegar.... so unless you are dipping green onion cakes in soy sauce or vinegar, you're just eating fried dough.

Shrimp fried rice was VERY bland with little taste. There are beer cans and boxes stacked in the dining room, same with Christmas lights that are very dusty- this place has not been deep-cleaned in some time. The environment does not look clean, well kept, tidy, or sanitary. The sanitizer bottles on the table are caked with a gross film on the bottles. I was also given a tiny little plate while my partner was given a regular sized one. So basically this place just sucks. Also we were given one napkin, and the waitress said she'd bring another one out, and never did... there are two other tables in this restaurant - no reason to forget.

The man in white doesn't help out customers. So despite the small line at the front of people waiting to pay, no help is given while he is up there. The waitress is moving around like this place is crazy busy, but there's like no one here.

Avoid this place, it just isn't good. This is the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Will never come back here. If this is considered Chinese food, yall brought severe dishonor to your family...
