After spending more than a thousand dollars in the last year on delivery to the same house from the Strathcona location, today our order was rejected and the app instructed me to call the location for more information. The person who answered the phone told me that we’re “out of range” and that their policy has always been to only deliver within 7km. The house is well within the delivery range shown in their app, their app chose the Strathcona shop for me based on my location, and my card was already charged before the order was rejected. I told him I’d been ordering delivery from this location regularly for more than a year, but he insisted this has always been their policy and refused to take my order.
Just know that if you order online through their app/website (which they encourage) they will charge your card whether they accept your order or not and it’s on you to make sure the refund is actually processed. If you ask for a refund for any items they forget (which is a regular occurrence), you will have to wait until a manager is available to do that. Then you’ll have to call back three more times that week to get someone to actually do it because it keeps getting missed somehow.
It’s too bad because the food is pretty good and I prefer to support places with in-house delivery, but I’m tired of being charged for food I never receive and having to continually follow up with them to resolve their issues. I won’t be ordering again.
edit I’m not looking for compensation - these issues have been ongoing for some time and I’ve already attempted multiple times to resolve them directly with the business. It shouldn’t take a public negative review to motivate a business to care about their...
Read moreMay 12, 2024: Rating Hold. The quality of food really depends on who is working in the kitchen. Some days, the food is a 5, and others a 3. Today, it's a 3; the food is too salty and has little to no wok hay.
On the bright side, they have some really great daily specials.
The food today: Deluxe Crispy Noodle Black Bean Beef with Ho Fun Chicken Fried Rice
Feb 5, 2023 visit: I'm not sure what happened within the last 3 weeks of visiting but the quality of food has drastically worsened; however, the service and atmosphere remains to be the same.
Let's go over the food- Haiwanese chicken rice: Chicken looks dull and not fresh. The quantity of chicken has also decreased - it's almost all bones.
Shredded pork crispy noodle: worse compared with what was received last visit. Slurry was too thick, everything was mushy. Flavor is still somewhat there.
Black pepper beef spaghetti: lacked depth of flavor. The taste of black pepper was overpowering and concealed the taste of any other ingredients in the dish. Could not taste the beef whatsoever.
‐---------------------------------‐----------------------------------- Jan 8, 2023 visit: Good service, food is brought to table after ordering (maybe because it's not too busy).
Atmosphere is pretty nice. Music is not too loud. Table space is spacious.
Food: Tom yum noodle soup: great lemongrass flavor; not too much msg. Quantity of noodles is a bit subpar. Decent amount of ingredients (got the shrimp version and got 5 shrimps).
Haiwanese chicken rice: chicken is a bit dry, but chicken flavor is there. Rice was good - not dry.
Shredded pork crispy noodle: great crispy noodle base,...
Read moreI am a regular of this establishment. I quite enjoy all of their dishes and they are one of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton..... however
My last visit at rice bowl south showing my friends this establishment left a bad taste in all of our mouths.
One of the employees who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, was not only doing absolutely nothing, that my food took 20 minutes to even be ready. And my bubble tea came after.
But now. The whole time I am eating my food with my friends that have already finished, I was getting mean mugged and stared at. I brought this up and aparrently the manager was on the way. After a while this employee started pacing back and forth from bathroom to bathroom staring at me and my friends.
After the manager showed up. The employee clearly drunk was yelling and screaming as customers left the restaurant. I asked to speak to the manager as this was happening to express my complaints and was verbally attacked by this woman.
The manager closed the store in front of at least ten customers, and asked us all to leave as this woman was screaming at myself and the manager.. at this point upset at the employee I exchanged a few words of my own stating that she was clearly drunk and to just listen and leave.
This is a completely unacceptable business practice, any employee of that establishment who believed something was wrong should have alerted the manager or police sooner.
I most likely will not be vising this restaurant again
Sadly 1/10stars, Order...
