Seoul Fried Chicken is probably hands down the best chicken place in Edmonton that I have tried to date! My brother and I have it fairly regularly (probably about once a month) so I thought I would introduce some of my coworkers to it as well. It's also probably the best bang for your buck fried chicken too. You can get a fully 20 pc box of chicken and a side for a little over $30 - this will probably feed about 3 or 4 people depending on how much you eat.
With all the covid, social isolating and budget cuts to the public sector, my coworkers and I have still been working on site as essential workers knowing we won't have jobs after June so we have started doing a weekly lunch to lift spirits. This week we decided to do SFC as there were a few people in the office who have never had it before and it's been nice to introduce people to new places around the city.
I placed my order online around 930-10am that day and left a request for it to be delivered around 11:45am. It was all super simple and convenient. The driver called just before leaving the restaurant to double check the address and let me know he was on his way. The food showed up exactly when it was supposed to and it was hot and ready for lunch.
We ordered a full Garlic Soy, fully BBQ, 1/2 OG, 1/2 Onion Lovers, Kale Caesar, Sesame Potato Slaw and a Mac n' Cheese Pesto for about 11 people. Everyone LOVED SFC! Everyone also loved how tender and juicy the chicken was. Everyone's favorites varied but the BBQ (sweet with a little bit of spice) and the Garlic Soy (Kind of like a honey garlic but not over the top sweet) were definitely a majority favorite. The mac n' cheese is always one of my favorite sides, as it's different from typical man n'cheese and doesn't feel super heavy. I have never had the slaw or the caesar before today but I found them both good. The slaw was also light and refreshing.
One coworker stated "you know this chicken was made with love" and many of the them said they would definitely have SFC again. Lunch was a huge hit. So thank you to SFC being the meal of the week for a handful of essential workers just trying to get through...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW:
bumped this to 4 stars, I've been back a dozen times since the original review as my work and family are now hooked on this chicken. Only leaving a star off because my complaint with feathers wasn't acknowledged and seemed to happen to others but has not happened since those first 2 orders.
The chicken is really tasty, the different flavors are all awesome and the price is worth it for the flavour.
It still can be a long wait but they are very good if you place the order online and call them before you come in as they don't want to make it and leave it cold for you!
They have a fair stamp card system to save a bit of money over time. Fries are solid.
Haven't tried desserts or Buns yet!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Let me start by saying the feathers I got in my chicken on both occasions dimmed this review significantly. If I managed to get an order without feathers I'd rate differently. Just a bit gross and weird, they could easily pluck these.
I found the fried chicken to taste good, had minimal bones throughout the box, their flavors are good, I took sauce on the side so they didn't get soggy the next day but the garlic parmesan and the cilantro lime were tasty. The prices went up between visits and compared to online menu which is unfortunate but still not unreasonable. The location was very busy the first time I was there, small but trendy looking, second time I ordered on the site and came in around the eta time and ended up waiting a half hour still. First time was about an hour. Not nice waiting that long even though the food is very tasty like a 4/5 or something.
Just the feathers and crazy wait holding them back for me, I do appreciate a...

We were four people. Went there 15 minutes before closing. They said they don't have any chicken items. That's alright. We headed back and were already on the road.
The cashier comes out through the front door calling us. Told us that they have some chickens left so if we were interested. We were definitely interested, so we went in.
Then the cashier told us that they can give us the 8 piece chicken box, but all of the 8 pieces would be only drumsticks. Now please note that in that chicken box there should be a mix of 4 types of pieces. But they only had drumsticks. As the dish offered was different than the menu, we asked politely if there was any chance they could give us a discount. They said no.
Alright. So, you told us there was no chicken left. We headed out. You called us back from the road by coming outside of the store. We went in and you offered a dish that's not following your menu correctly. We knew that you wanted to sell these chickens at the last moment, and we were also looking forward to having SFC that night. But as the dish wasn't 100% according to the menu, we believe there would be a chance of showing better customer service by compensating the difference, be it a discount or an extra side or a pop or anything.
Your customer service could've been much better. It's high time you stopped expecting people to accept an incomplete meal but with the same price shown...
