Regency Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

I called the bakery today to inquire about two cakes and if they make them. I asked if they made a hummingbird cake. It’s not rare and is quite loved by many. The lady that answered the phone kept saying that they could draw a picture of one. I had to keep repeating that I was inquiring about a type of cake and not a picture. She had a hard time speaking English and understanding my English. Finally I said ok do you make an Italian cream cheese cake? The lady huffed and puffed and said oh my god do we make an Italian cream cheese cake? Who knew asking about cakes was going to be such a problem for them? Finally someone else Came on the phone and I told her that I was just trying to find out if they made certain cakes and it shouldn’t be such a problem. All she said was that woman number one didn’t understand. No apology. Nothing. I will never shop here. They made me feel like a bother just...

The reason I gave 2 stars is because they never wash their hands or wear gloves when they serve you meat from the deli. It's very unsanitary especially since you see someone from the cash register move over to the deli without washing their hands.... as they slice your meat the slices land right into their palms then onto the package. It just seems weird to see this in today's age when everyone is so educated about hand hygiene and the spread of illnesses and diseases through hand contact. I think the bakery is decent but this just turns me off. I try to avoid it when I can but the place is conveniently located to me and they do have a good selection of meats and desserts. I went to buy bread, and the older bread lady was sour and ignored me while talking to one of her co workers. I said a friendly "hello" and she just glared at me as she walked over. She stood there and said nothing, which I took as my cue to order. Bought 4 loaves. She reached back and grabbed the loaves and handed them to me. She was the most sour, uninterested person I've met in retail for a long time. I went over to the deli side, then she wandered over there and started to talk to them as well. I figured I'd cut my losses and leave. The bread is good as far as that goes, but I can easily get Calabrese in 100s of places. Driving customers away...
