I called ahead of time and booked a table for my daughters birthday party. I paid for 9 All You Can Eat meals. The service was really really really slow. One dish would come out at a time with long waits between the next one. I had to inquire several times what the delay was and the one waitress just sort of shrugged it off. One of the party guests went to the washroom and overheard the kitchen staff saying that my table had ordered to much food and wouldn't bring any more out. But the problem was they weren't bringing out our food. Two plates of sushi every 25 minutes for 9 people and 2 of the ppl at the party were vegetarians can not be considered "to much food".
When I complained about the long wait times for the meager food we did receive I was told they were very busy with other customers.... OTHER CUSTOMERS... I reminded them I called a week ago and booked the reservation and they should have planned accordingly with extra staff.
We certainly didn't get our All You Can eat and I felt ripped off because the kitchen would not bring out what we ordered. I was careful not to order to much because I knew we would be charged extra for food we didn't eat but come on..... they didn't even bring us enough for the 9 people. We joked while at the Resturant about stopping at a fast food Resturant on the way out of greenwood to get a meal because we were still hungry.
Also owners child kept turning the lights off while we were there and running around. It was very distracting and unprofessional.
Never again...I will drive the extra 15 minutes and go to Sushi Fang in New Minas. They have never disappointment us. They have far superior service and quality of food. Their wait staff are friendly unlike the greenwood location which is off putting and...
Read moreThis place is very hit or miss. I've eaten there and gotten take out from there quite a few times and the sushi is never consistent. I find it all depends on which one of them makes it for you. The last time my wife and I went, our rolls seemed to be pre-made. The rice was very soggy and the california rolls were very sour tasting. We brought it up to them and the front desk lady only said "oh. i'll tell the cooks." Nothing else.
If you get all you can eat, most of the time they will forget to bring you several of the items you included on the list. I find myself always having to remind the staff that they missed some things (this has happened to some other people I've talked to as well). Also, if you're getting take out, make sure you check whats in your bag before leaving. They have messed up my order more then enough times. Although, I did complain once and they gave me a $30 voucher.
I highly recommend staying away from anything with chicken in it, as I got extremely sick from it and also a few friends ended up hospitalized from it (I'll spare the gruesome details).
Their sushi is extremely over priced for how little fish/meat you get. It cost us around $48 the last time we went (we got a total of 6 sushi rolls). I guess they can get away with it though because the other closest sushi place is in New Minas.
Overall, I do not recommend wasting your money here. There are much better dining options in the general area, you just have take some extra time to...
Read moreBeen here a few times over the years now, and so far every time it’s been absolutely disgusting in quality and flavour. Yet every time someone tells me it’s better than I remember and convinces me to try it again. It is terrible every time. Full stop. It might without exaggeration be the worst sushi restaurant I’ve been to anywhere in Canada, let alone the valley. On this particular visit I ordered a sashimi combo with rice and seaweed salad. The fish was clearly subpar quality and had both an odd texture and flavour, and some of the pieces were still literally frozen in chunks of ice and ice cold. Miso soup was decent and the salad was actually tasty, though was so wet it was like eating a second soup. At no point did they provide us with water as is customary at every other restaurant in existence, and did not even think to provide wasabi with our table’s rolls until asked directly. The staff was inattentive and had to be tracked down for basic things such as: placing an order, or trying to pay a bill. Halifax and even New Minas have places that are far better quality and value if you’re looking for a sushi fix.
I can’t give half stars to bump it to 1.5, but if I could I’d mention that the place is kept very clean, and adheres very well to covid protocols. Staff is also fairly friendly in my experience when you can actually speak to them. I just can’t justify a whole star for what seems like a basic level of competency....
