While my visit to Scaddabush wasn't necessarily a bad experience, it certainly left a lot to be desired. The food was extremely expensive for the portion sizes and quality, and the service quality was unfortunately lower than average.
As we were sat, we noticed an errant lime wedge at the edge of our table beside the menus (included in the photos). While this is not a huge deal, it shows that attention to detail when cleaning off the previous table's meal is not a top priority to the establishment. We had two different servers throughout the meal, and it seemed as if both thought the other would be helping us, until one would eventually service us after a long period of waiting. This made service quite tedious, with it taking over 30 minutes for our dishes to be cleared.
I decided to order the spinach dip to start, with the spaghetti and meatballs as my entree. The spinach dip was extremely tasty and the highlight of the night, albeit quite expensive for a starter at $19. As for the spaghetti and meatballs, I think a more suitable name would be spaghetti and meatball. The dish is served with one giant, unseasoned meatball that requires you to smash it like a piñata until you've reduced it to bite size chunks. The pasta was quite over-cooked, and the sauce didn't have that typical tanginess you expect out of a good pomodoro sauce.
Both my partner and I got soda for our drinks, and when my server asked if I wanted a refill, I assumed it would be free, as it was not served in a can but through a soda gun. However, when the bill came I saw I was charged for two drinks. More transparency would be appreciated in this situation.
Overall, it was an average dining experience at too high a cost. If offered a choice, I would choose a different restaurant around the area for...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful dinner. Excellent service and delicious food. The drink menu offered some interesting and tasty cocktails (albeit a little on the pricy side). I'll provide feedback in order of best to least, as this was truly a wonderful experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back with my wife again! Best: The food was fantastic. We had the calamari to start, and it was cooked perfectly. The side sauces had just the right amount and tasted delicious. With dinner, we enjoyed a side of the fresh mozzarella made by John. This was absolutely worth it as I have never had such a delicious piece of cheese before! Still Best: The service was fast and good. The waitress Myla was so sweet and helpful, ensuring we had a wonderful dining experience at just the right pace. We were served quickly but didn't feel rushed. She offered flexibility with the menu options and made sure the kitchen delivered exactly what we wanted (minor additions and substitutions). Least: The dining atmosphere. I totally understand that this location was busy, but the front area was LOUD. So loud, in fact, that I could barely hear the hostess when we were being directed to our table. Thank goodness we were seated around a corner in a smaller, more intimate dining area. Even in the back room, the volume in the main room was still quite significant. If we had been seated out front, it would have really impacted our dining experience. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience with fantastic food and service. We will...
Read moreMy partner and I came here for dinner. It was our second visit to this location. Our first visit was great - staff was friendly and food was good, so why not try it again?
Our second visit was not so great however. We came here on a Monday night at around 9pm. Our server was Jessica. She was very nice and accommodating. There was a cold draft from the window and she was kind enough to move us when we asked. She was also very attentive when serving us.
Now onto the food. We got the Balsamic Mozzarella again - it was delicious. I really like the sweetness of the honey and tartness of the balsamic vinegar. I’d say this is a must try!
For our main, we got the Vodka Pollo Rigatoni. We usually get the social size carbonara and for that dish we always struggle to finish it. We always need to have a little bit for takeout. Now for the rigatoni, it was incredibly small. To the point where when we split it, it wouldn’t even fill our entire plate. If this is the social size, I don’t even think the individual portion will fill you up a little bit. I cannot emphasize how small this dish was. My partner and I were so confused when we first saw it. We were able to finish the whole dish in about 5 min and even Jessica was confused at how quickly we wiped the plate clean. We had to get a small bite elsewhere since this portion was very tiny. I wouldn’t recommend it and it just sort of ruined the meal since we had to eat again.
Service is nice as always and the mozzarella is...
