Buckle up, it's lengthy. (Responded to owner with email, will update my review)
Guelph location.
Went a week ago for cocktails and had such an amazing experience! Sat at the rail and an amazing younger bartender went above and beyond to make my drink (New York Sour); even though she's never even heard of it. Let me just tell you, it was absolutely perfect!! (First photo)
Wanted to go back for cocktails to celebrate some amazing news with my partner and the moment we walked in something felt off. There was no hostess to greet us, however that was no fault, it wasn't a busy time. After waiting a few minutes, we just poked our heads over to the bar as we were just going to sit and the rail anyways, but there was no bartender to be seen. Thinking it was no harm to seat ourselves, the hostess returned, less than welcoming- to almost scold us to wait next time. We apologized and she admitted to not seeing us on the screens in the back.
Then onto our cocktails. Explained the amazing experience, showed the photo of the drink, even explained the drink because I know it sounds pretentious (whiskey sour with a red wine float). Seeming less than interested, she consulted the bar manager on how to bill it, etc. After a wait, it showed up. She explained that the wine 'dropped'. No matter, if it's tasty I'm no stickler for perfection.. although the glass wasn't even full, no garnish and unfortunately - no flavour. It was sour. It was citrus, wine and whiskey. (Second photo on right, two sample tastes and stopped. Left beverage is bourbon old fashion)
Hoping to contact the staff to rectify this simple problem, we waited a solid 10+ minutes with no one in sight after receiving our beverages. When we finally saw someone, we flagged her down hoping to talk and explained we were unhappy- quickly was passed along to the manager. Whom after I explained to her the astounding service I had received prior and showed her the photo of the drink; giving high praise and explained the flaw (honestly just needed to be sweeter.) She agreed the previous drink looked amazing- quickly comped our drinks and we decided to go as she quickly wished us a...
Read moreI’m not normally one to leave a review, but was left disappointed after going to milestones Guelph last night for my birthday. As to be expected of a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was not very busy. However, it still took over ten minutes for a server to even come to our table with water. From then, we were proceeded to be informed of all of the items not currently available at the restaurant, which included: spinach and artichoke dip, sirloin steak, peach Bellini‘s, half of the wine option, and the seafood appetizer- salmon cakes. I forget what they’re called. Pretty disappointing that many of the most popular options and our favourites weren’t available. My husband and I have not been out for dinner very often lately, for one with the economy being what it is, but also having had a baby recently and me being off on maternity leave, has restricted our finances. We chose to go to Milestones to celebrate my birthday because we had $100 ultimate dining gift card. When they let us know that the sirloin steaks that my husband and I both planned on getting as our dinner ($32) were not available we decided to splurge and upgrade to the rib steaks ($52) figuring that we had $100 gift card and wouldn’t mind paying a slight difference as we came with the intention of having a Steak. We were paying for our bill and providing the waitress with our gift card when we were informed that milestones was no longer accepting ultimate dining gift cards even though their restaurant is clearly listed on the card. This forced us to pay for the entire dinner out of pocket. There should be signage up informing customers of this in advance and also should be some thing mentioned by the wait staff prior to ordering. It also doesn’t seem fair to no longer accept these cards when your restaurant is being advertised on them with no expiration. Overall, at least the steak was cooked well, but the environment of the restaurant was cold, the service was lackluster and we are very disappointed about how we were not able to pay with a gift card that advertises milestones as one of the...
Read morewas there with friends Jan 5,2019 to celebrate a birthday, arrived at 6 pm without a reservation, appeared several tables were open but told of 20 minute wait, crammed into tiny alcove as we did not care to go to the bar as hostess suggested, eventually we were seated at one of the same tables that was open when we arrived, I questioned the hostess about seeing the manager about this policy and was told it was the kitchen was busy and was on hold for a time. Manager never came by, service was slow, over an hour to get food, perhaps one of the 3 or more hostesses should have been helping out in the kitchen! from my perspective they could have seated us and told us the true story and perhaps offered a basket of bread or complimentary appetizer rather than pretending to be so popular. Food was good enough although there was an unnecessary amount of spice on one of the meals and another was brought to the table without the side described in the menu, Desserts however were amazing. Might go back for a late evening dessert but not likely to return for dinner, perhaps chef Ramsay needs to pay a visit and teach them to hustle and hire a manager who is a bit more hands on, lighting outside not up to par for safety either. Went back again almost 5 years later, with a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was not terribly attentive, juice was definately a bit off, likely starting to ferment. I had asked for a modification to the sauce and I thought it was well understood but they served a cream sauce when I had asked for pesto, when I saw the dish I thought perhaps they had prepared it with a cashew cream to avoid dairy but no they did not, I doubt it was modified at all so for a top dollar sort of menu I suppose they are using lots of pre-prepared sauces and not creating them fresh to order. The restaurant is a bit noisy and I doubt I will ever go back when Guelph has so many other great choices where the service is wonderful and things are made in house like YRK...
