Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in Guelph

Ice cream itself was not bad but the customer service was terrible at this place. I went in with my family (including an infant and my mom) after lunch on June 15 and there was a gentleman (he told his name was Ehsan) who was very rude, didn’t smile, and outright argumentative.

We were being served by a young lady who was nice and courteous. After getting the first ice cream, my wife who was in the middle of getting the second one got rudely interrupted by a gentleman asking the lady staff to help other customers first before us. When my wife asked why because we’ve been here 10 mins before the other customers and in the middle of our order, he said why are some of you sitting in the back? My wife had to explain we already got one of our ice creams and were ordering the second one. Mind you I was sitting in the chair taking care of my infant because it was a hot day.

Anyways, I didn’t want to further ruin anyone’s experience so we took three ice creams but honestly, I’d lost my appetite so I didn’t get any for myself, we just paid and left.

This was my first visit to this Marble Slab location and probably the last due to such a disappointing experience. I’d like to mention that lady staff was great but the guy was so rude. The owner needs to hire better staff who can actually provide decent customer service and are not greeting customers with a frown because they have young kids or old parents and are taking a...

I'm unsure about the ownership of this store; however, for some reason, they restrict the number of toppings to just two. This is a situation I've never encountered at any Marble Slab before. I ordered a milkshake and initially wanted banana chocolate ice cream, which they didn't have. The staff suggested that I opt for chocolate ice cream with a banana topping, to which I agreed. Consequently, I ordered a Nutella milkshake with banana, Oreo, and caramel drizzle, only to discover that I was only allowed two toppings. I was disappointed by the absence of such a basic ice cream flavor, and adding the banana topping meant sacrificing one of my topping choices. I had no choice but to make a selection between the toppings i wanted, which I found to be quite unprecedented. Staffs said they dont want to do something that will get them in trouble. I get it. She was doing her job. I was willing to even pay more but they have no way to charge it. Owner need to clarify this and even post it on their menu. Oh wait you cant because even the official Marble Slab website indicates that they offer unlimited mixins. Thats why theres no options to charge for more toppings!!! But hey the whip cream was free? Unbelievable.

Nonetheless, 2 stars for the milkshake actually tasting pretty good, but not worth it for $10 with only two...

To be clear, I cannot rate the quality of the ice cream as I never had a chance to try it. My husband and I wanted to try it for the first time and came in around 10:15pm on a weekday. There were a few people in there when we first walked in but they cleared out a few minutes after and we were the only customers in the store. We weren't greeted, one of the 2 employees disappeared into the back and the remaining employee ignored us. We stood across the counter from her for about 15 minutes directly infront of the register without even being looked at or spoken to waiting to order. It became apparent that based on the fact I had not even had my order taken or been acknowledged at all 15 minutes into standing infront of the employee that I likely wasn't going to get served before the store closed, not to mention the fact that the complete lack of costumer service had left a taste in my mouth so foul that the best tasting ice cream could never make up for it.
