This place is such a great addition to the neighborhood. While they were building the bar, they had an adorable sign about the vibe they’re looking to create and I can confirm they definitely nailed it. We went last night and were greeted with “Hi Norm!”. The layout is definitely cozy (so not a great fit if you feel easily crowded) but it’s very conducive to making new connections with the other patrons. Basically after 10 minutes we were all in conversation together - thanks in no small part to the owner who has a natural gift of making you feel like you’ve been friends for ages - and it became a shared experience that felt safe and fun and not something you’d get from anywhere else! There’s also a small table and ledges if you’d rather have some solo time or chat with someone you came with. But even as someone who does not stranger well, I highly recommend at least introducing yourself to the people next to you - my friend met a fellow neighborhood dog parent and some other islanders, and I met someone who’s kid will be in school with mine soon (and you know possible parent friends you find in a bar will be cool ones). The drinks were beautiful and crafted with so much creativity and care. They’re not cheap, but as someone who lives very close, I’d much rather have somewhere to stop for a drink or two than a place where you can get plastered for $20. The whole mini-complex (bar, cafe, gallery) has been a great addition to an already great...
Read moreNot sure if it means much, but by far, the best cocktails I've ever had in my life. We got the mule, martini, old fashioned, cheaper than therapy, the sweater and Negroni.
Now you might feel that the prices might be a bit high for a cocktail, but I assure you it is worth it, as the presentation, flair and the free pour really makes up for it, especially that free pour.
It is the smallest bar in ON and Doug the owner has done an outstanding job of utilizing the space to maximize energy and experience.
10/10 recommend checking it out, would also like to mention that despite it being small it has lots of character, from the deco to the tender to the folks who come in. Friendly, warm and welcoming.
Once again, this is the smallest bar in ON so if you want something more immediate, enjoy the patio and some instant refreshments of beers ciders or coolers. The cocktails will take time as they are made very meticulously and everyone wants one But once youve had one, you will be able to appreciate it that much more and feel that it was worth the wait.
That's just my honest opinion, I highly recommend you come by and give it a shot yourself and see what the fuss is all about. Just a warning, if you have the old fashioned here, you won't be able to enjoy it...
Read moreA cool concept for a cocktail bar with a few glaring issues. The décor and overall design is very well done, there's no shortage of sights to keep you interested, I also found the "smallest dancefloor" to be a very cool touch.
I came here with a friend approximately 2 hours before closing on a Thursday, however the owner/bartender seemed to be slightly annoyed at our arrival (this was the first week of business, I wonder how it will get down the road).
Usually when visiting a new bar I'll have the bartender make me whatever they like, or a specialty drink of their own. When I requested this the response I got was "you have to pick something". I asked if they had a menu, to which the response was, "no". I ordered an old fashioned.
The drink itself was quite good, he makes them with his own spin but I appreciated the uniqueness of it, however the kicker was when the bill came and we paid $18 per drink. Extremely overprice for what was provided, I understand this is a unique bar and location but this is the ward in Guelph, not a trendy...
