Retour Bistro — Restaurant in Guelph

We have been thinking about checking out this place ever since they opened, and finally did so. I am surprised we took so long to put this restaurant in our "support local / Support Small business" list, but it is now officially making its way into our regular rotation. We ordered two meals - Tawook plate, and the Kafta Plate. Both came with salad, and sides and everything were very plentiful.

The food has excellent flavour profiles with lots of seasonings and spices. The flavours are so good. I couldn't finish my meal because there was so much.

We ordered over the phone and picked up our order to ensure we did a minimal contact transaction. The people were very nice and friendly. The transaction was very uneventful and smooth.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic started, we have made more substantial efforts to take out orders from local restaurants, specifically SMALL, family-run businesses, to help do our part to support these small businesses during tough times. Roguetrippers typically order take out once but sometimes twice a week. We avoid using any food delivery companies to ensure that the money goes back to the restaurant, and no commissions to the delivery company.

Retour Bistro in Guelph is a fantastic place to grab a meal.

Amazing food, great options, small business, and great people.

A new restaurant in a new building, was excited to try this place. Very clean, bright space. Offers Lebanese food as well as several vegan options (which was the main draw for this morning). I had the tofu scramble, hashbrowns, and toast. Came with tomato slices and balsamic vinegar. The scramble was simple and delicious. Well spiced, topped with vegan cheese, and not over complicated by the addition of sauteed vegetables. This was a perfect medium to light breakfast. My wife had the vegan french toast. Thick cut white bread, dipped in chia seeds and panko, baked in a pizza oven. Sweet, mild crunch, and filling. Good coffee, we were asked if we wanted refills at least twice. Service was very good; attentive, addressed questions. We were the first table of the day which our very short wait time for food reflects. Retour bistro is my favourite place in Guelph, for many reasons!

1. Expansive menu with tons of variety, which doesn't skimp on quality. I have tried many of their items, including pizza, manakeesh, salads, mezza, and platters and everything has been delicious.

2. Flavourful options for everyone. Their kafta and other meats are delicious with hints of parsley, mint and other spices. And their VeganHouse menu offers most of the original menu with a vegan modification, making it a great option for Vegans. Their fake meats are also spiced as nicely as the meats are!

3. They are accurate and follow instructions to a tee - something that is weirdly rare in Guelph. I've asked for stuff on the side, extra spices, no onions etc. and they always follow through.

4. Generous portions and careful packaging.
