I went to the Dairy Queen in Bayer's Lake this afternoon. I tried their Loaded Steakhouse Burger combo and a cheese burger. Sorry I didn't remember to take pictures. The burger was actually quite good with the mix of condiments on it, but I was very dissapointed in the fries. I usually always look forward to having fries at DQ but today they were cold. I am guessing they must of been sitting around for awhile. I was going to mention it to them but I didn't have time to wait for fresh ones to be cooked so I didn't bother. I just ate them as I was hungry and left.
Another thing I noticed was the size of the drink getting smaller but the price has increased which was also part of the reason The service was good and the staff were friendly, but the food is also slightly overpriced for what you get, which which is why I am giving it 3 stars as being "OK". I have eaten here several times in the past and the food has been better so I will be back again at some point.
//Update// - Visited again today to give another chance. The lady waiting on me was friendly and my food was delivered to my table quickly, but my fries were old and not warm. I quickly returned to the cashier and asked for fresh fries which were delivered to me in seconds. Not sure why they didn't wait to put fresh fries in the order vs sending out cold fries quickly.
When I went to find a seat every booth was not wiped down so I sat at a smaller table. While sitting there I noticed the chair at the table next to me had a piece of lettuce on it and the table had not been wiped. I was almost done my meal when I noticed a staff member come out and wiped 2 tables, pushed a chair in and went back to work leaving all the other tables as is. This was very disappointing as it would have taken very little time to wipe things down. I honestly don't think I will be back to this location...
Read moreNot hated. Has to do with improperly stored Ketchup on tables. ( salt : pepper also ). If my understanding is correct at end of night : these 3 items are dumped out nightly. So cleaning is done at night. Good thing. This is the tricky part. Sun beating down thru plate glass windows. So all is fresh in a.m. Sitting on tables. Your 3 condiments sitting directly in sunlight all day long. Getting hotter and hotter as Sun heats up everything. All day long. Ketchup gets cooked all day in sun. Longer days means longer cooking times. 30. Degrees multiplied by Glass times 10. At some point in time product is spoiled. If you have never tried sour ketchup. Try it sometime. 10 to 12 hours of direct sunlight then night comes. Product slowly cools down. By closing time product is no good. But cut a few corners here and there. [ ex. Don't dump out product. ] Clean cover and and lid wipe down bottle. Refill Ketchup by pouring cold ketchup into product that has been out in direct sunlight all day long Put bottles back in walkin cooler or fridge. Take out next day. Start process all over again. I see this happening on daily basis. No matter where you go. If kitchens happen to have windows ; shelves on back wall full of every day products. Examples Besides Above mentioned. Tin products 100 ounce cans of pineapple : olives : bread . pickles mayo ranch ceasar plasic or glass or cAns baking all day in sun. this list is endless and it continues on and on. Working and running kitchen for 15 + years and working with aHealth inspecters. You learn a thing or too. Finally dirty kitchens i won't eat there. If kitchen not clean then it stands to reason coolers fridges freezers etc etc will also not be clean. Thank you ....
Read moreMy partner bought an ice cream cake for my birthday here yesterday, one of the ones where they print the image on the cake. We were called 3 hours before pick-up time on the day of my birthday to be told the printing machine wasn't working, so they'd try to draw something on the cake by hand. My partner told them to just make us a hello kitty cake that says "happy birthday" on it, and we would pick it up at the agreed time.
We show up 3 hours later to pick up the cake, and my partner sees they have a plain hello kitty cake in the freezer and assumes it's our cake so they get an employee to take it up to the counter to pay for it. I realize it's probably not our cake since we asked for it to say "happy birthday" on it, and we clarify the situation with the young man who got us the plain cake from the freezer, and ask if we could have the cake we ordered from the back. He then tells us "sorry that's above my pay grade".
Now, I'm pretty understanding with fast food workers since most things are above their pay grade, but we literally just asked if we could have the cake we ordered. He then asked if we wanted something written on the cake??? Which would've taken more time and we were running late for our other plans. We just bought the plain hello kitty cake and left.
Not sure if this kid was really confused about what we were asking or what, but we weren't super jazzed with...
