Extremely Disappointing Experience at Laura Secord in Hfx Shopping Center!
Today at 8:05pm, I visited the ice cream shop that I have been a loyal customer of since 2019, and I must say, this visit left a sour taste in my mouth. Being a regular, I had high hopes for a delightful experience, especially since I was excited to introduce my family to their flavors. Unfortunately, the new staff member at the counter turned what should have been a pleasant outing into a humiliating and disappointing encounter.
Right from the moment we entered, the new woman at the counter displayed an unwelcoming attitude. She appeared to look down upon us and treated us as if we were an inconvenience. When my sisters wanted to sample a few flavors before making their final choice, she made it seem like they were bothering her, and even exchanged judgmental expressions with a friend nearby. This behavior was incredibly off-putting and not in line with the friendly atmosphere that the shop had previously offered.
What struck me the most was her lack of basic customer service etiquette. She never greeted us, and her demeanor was far from pleasant. In an attempt to lighten the mood, I inquired about the previous staff member who had always been friendly. However, instead of responding cordially, the new employee immediately shut down the conversation in a confrontational manner, implying that I was causing a problem. Her tone was rude and her words were condescending, making me feel embarrassed and even questioning if there might have been an undertone of racism in her behavior.
The incident left me deeply disturbed and saddened. It's astonishing how a simple interaction, affected by body language, choice of words, and tone, can completely mar what should have been a delightful outing. As a loyal customer, I had never expected to be treated in such a disrespectful manner. I informed the staff member that this would be my last visit to the shop, as her behavior had not only humiliated me but also tarnished the positive memories I had associated with the place.
In conclusion, I sincerely hope that the management of the ice cream shop takes note of this incident and addresses the issue of unprofessional behavior among their staff. Customers visit not only for the delicious treats but also for the overall experience, which includes the way they are treated. Read moreLet me start by saying the women working was very pleasant and welcoming. However, the issue does not lay with her, but with managment. The worker has severe mobility issues, and struggled even to stand or scoop ice cream. It is absolutely cruel for managment to leave her working alone when she can barely walk let alone raise her arm to hand me the ice cream. Upon a waffle cone breaking, she could barely bend over, was almost out of breath and could barely open the cupboard door to throw it away. It is immensly clear that the worker is struggling and in pain, even the walk from the register to the ice cream cooler was a seemingly unbearable feat and took quite a while for her.
