I went to the Pur & Simple on Washmill Rd at 1:15pm Saturday. The rush was over and people were coming out. I went in, only me, one guest. I saw there were about 1/3 of all tables empty. I stood there... just waiting. I saw tons of young workers chit chatting. One would be bussing tables and one or two standing there beside the busser chatting up a storm. Finally two came to the front. Put down menus.... and continued chatting right in front of me!! I said, excuse me, am I invisible? The young girl with red hair and freckles said, excuse me? As if I was disturbing her chat up... said I'd like to sit, there's just me.... I'd like a table over by the quiet area. And the blonde busser said, SAY PLEASE!! ...she barked it at me. I said, I have been standing here, for almost 10 minutes and no one has even acknowledged me. She said, no I was just here, not even 5 minutes, I said, no you were not, and on top of it, when you got up here, I had to bug you in the middle of your chat session for you to notice me. I walked straight over to the table I wanted. I really wanted to try this place so I ordered. My first time here and I drove out of my way to try it. The food was good. My server was awesome. But every coworker the rude blonde girl got near she openly talked about me, and would look over at me. Very childish. I asked a girl, what is the blonde busser's name, I was told Sara. As I was leaving after my meal. Sara was at a table to the right of me, she pointed me out to yet another coworker who both looked at me and Sara mocked me and then said " Have a good day" in a really rude way. I said, you too Sara. I thought wow...
Read moreI am very torn about this restaurant. This was my first time visiting and it turned out we ended up there during lunch so we ordered from the lunch selections.
I decided on the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. I was surprised when I was served a small hamburger like sandwich. Usually this sandwich is served on a smaller baguette style bread. The price was $17.50 so I was expecting a good size sandwich but it more like an appetizer size sandwich. I really should have ordered 2 of I would have known. If you look at the pictures, it looks like a decent amount of fries, but looks are deceiving. These fries were similar to shoestring fries but it felt like they were smaller because there was not much substance to them.
I ended up leaving hungry and quite disappointed because although it was a small portion I will be fair and say it was absolutely delicious. If I was rating flavor by itself I would give it 10 stars, but I can't bring myself to give a high rating when I feel it was over priced and I left needing to get something else.
On another note, I will say that their breakfasts looked very good portion wise so I will return to try their breakfast, but based on my lunch experience, I wouldn't recommend lunch if your hungry.
Rating wise I can't give a 3 because after spending that kind of money, this is the first place I have left still hungry which was a real shame because the flavor was amazing.
I will update after my next visit and...
Read moreFirst time to try P&S today. Going there on a Sunday lunch time was not the best idea, we had to wait literally an hour... And. Another. 30. Minutes. For. The Food. But I couldn't blame anyone for it. I mean all the staff seemed friendly and amazing, and they did everything they could possibly do to cater to everyone on such a busy atmosphere. Because of the wait time, my hunger level escalated a bit further so when my order came (Santa Fe eggs bene), I was underwhelmed by the portion size of the potatoes. I checked other Google Reviews now and saw some bene plates had bigger potato portions... That's disappointing. A little compliment like a free cup of coffee or tea or, in this case, a simply bigger potato portion would have been appreciated, you know, after the 1.5 hrs wait time. 'Cause let's be honest, the potatoes are not above par compare to their competitors. I mean, they're still potatoes, just diced, right? 😁. But in all fairness, I really enjoyed the flavor of my Santa Fe bene with the spicy hollandaise sauce (yummmmyyyy!!!!). Tasted like cheese pimento. I'd say one of the best bene's in Halifax! And what I like about P&S is their variety of eggs bene options! Will definitely come back and try EVERYTHING on their menu... but never again on a...
