Rinaldo’s — Restaurant in Halifax

July 2023: I am a regular for Friday night pizza here with the same friend since Rinaldo's opened.

There are two tables inside where I'm sure you are welcome to eat if you wish, but I've never seen anyone do it. The place is considered take-out only. It's not accessible but I am sure their very friendly staff would bring your order down the few stairs to meet you outside. (Not sure if their Interac machine is a wireless one or not though).

Free parking out front for a few cars, and can be difficult to back in or out onto Dutch Village Rd if traffic is heavy at rush hour, but not too bad.

Like all of the pizzas I've tied. The Stephano, which has a spring-like quality, is fresh ricotta, lemon, parsley on a cornmeal crust? (Going off memory instead of checking the actual menu as I should). The Hawaiian is delicious with big pieces of actual bacon vs ham I think, the sweetness of the pineapple, and heat of some jalapenos. The Erica (requested without the gorgonzola bc I just find that too harsh a blue-like cheese) has great flavor as well. My all-time true favorite is the Big Mac pizza that they occasionally make as a weekly special. Sesame seed crust on this and a few others, gives a great nutty flavor and crunch. Ordered a large Classic for delivery and was told 50 minutes. Not a problem. As i waited and noticed its been over a hour i called to check up on my order. I called 4 times and the phone just kept ringing and ringing so i decide id pay them a visit since I don't live very far from them. I pull up and noone is inside and the lady that took my order over the phone is just standing at the counter....so why was the phone not answered when I called? Anyway i explain that iv been waiting for and hour and a half at this point for my delivery and the cook i think it was? Kept saying how busy they are and that's fine and i get that every place is going to be busy during these weird times but why quote someone a time for delivery if you're not sure you can make it? If they would have told me over an hour i would have said nevermind or just came and picked up the pizza myself. Anyway i dont think my pizza was even started on since i wasn't told its coming out the oven soon and that i can just pay for it on the spot and take it so i said never mind and left and all the girl on the counter said was sorry while the other guy kept saying how busy they were as i walked out. Anyway its a shame because i do hear good things about the food but unfortunately i won't be attempting to order from this...

The food is good and the phone service is great, but actually getting what you've paid for, in our experience is a nightmare. We've ordered from downtown with no issues a few times, even dined in. But the three times we've ordered from here its been one thing or another either missing or just not up to par. I really let it go for the first two as its my girlfriends favorite place, and she was enjoying it but when you order garlic fingers and get no sauce, at all you've got to say something. The service when I let them know again was great, but its just a huge disappointment to have to "enjoy" luke·warm food you paid nearly $30 for after waiting for the sauce to arrive. The driver doesn't seem to understand when you say this long distance call is costing me money, and that ill be right there, only to have them leave and MAKE you call them back again, another bill for that as well. Overall not too happy, not a place high on my list to call again.

EDIT: I'd felt id been too harsh while I was as frustrated as I was, and I'd raise it to a three because while mistakes were made they also amended the issue quickly. But implying my review isn't helpful due to its star rating isn't...
