Let me tell you about our dining experience, tonight: We had to get a few groceries, but we thought we'd stop at Swiss Chalet, in Bayer's Lake, to grab a bite before hand. We were there at 6 PM, probably close to one of their busiest times. We were seated almost immediately, in spite of the fact it was busy. Right off the bat I realize I'd probably have pneumonia by the time I left there, because the air conditioning was blasting such cold air. (my first gripe) That's an exaggeration I realize, but you do get my point. And me with no sweater! Serves me right, I guess. Our server introduced herself within 5 minutes of being seated, and said she'd be back in a minute. While we waited for her to come back we realized we were seated by a family of 4...the parents and two children. One child was probably close to 8, maybe even 10, and the other one was probably 3 or 4. The older child was so quiet you wouldn't have even known he was there, but the younger one decided he wanted everyone to hear how loud he could scream. (my second gripe) Not once, but throughout our entire meal. Why don't parents realize not everyone enjoys hearing what a good set of lungs their children have? That and them running around the entire restaurant, while the rest of us just want a pleasant meal without being entertained by their children. I love children as much as anyone, but not when they're prancing around the restaurant interrupting everyone else's meal time. This I blame on the parents, NOT the children. Finally our waitress comes to our table to take our order. The biggest reason we usually go to Swiss Chalet in the first place is because Bob loves their garlic cheese loaf. .So he ordered that for starters, and 1/4 chicken and ribs for his main meal. I wasn't very hungry, so I just had the chicken spring rolls. We waited, and waited, and WAITED for our orders to come, all the time listening to this child screaming, just because his parents couldn't control him in public. Finally our cheese and garlic loaf arrived, only to discover they had changed the way they make it. Instead of a loaf now, it was 4 break apart rolls, made with a different bread. Not nearly as good as the way it used to be. (my third gripe) While we were eating our meal we noticed ANTS crawling on our table! ( my fourth gripe) I did tell the server when she came. She apologized profusely. After we finished we caught our server's attention and asked for our bill. We knew if we waited for her to bring it, they'd probably be chipping the ice off us, and deaf. In her defense, she was the only server in our area, and was doing the best she could. They should have had more staff on for that hour of the night. (my fifth gripe) The icing on the cake was our bill. What we had, came to $48.00, plus a tip. And yes, we did leave her one. That's absurd for one chicken dinner, and two appetizers! All in all not a very pleasant dining experience. ☹️ I think it's safe to say we...
Read moreMy 1star rating is not on the restaurant as I have had many great meals and service here but on my experience tonight which was appalling to me. I eat here at least once every two weeks. Or I did. I had a long day, picked up my 3yr old at daycare and decided to swing through the drive thru and feed my family of 5 instead of cook. The meal I ordered for myself was a Chicken Caesar, mixed up please in one container as if I was dining in. As opposed to all the separate containers. Absolutely was the reply! Same reply I always get because that is always my order. I waited 20 mins which wasn’t a bad wait and when I got to window the girl told me “I’m really sorry but we can’t mix your salad up” and I confused said how come? You always do. She said really? let me check. The next thing knew a young blonde slid the window open and rudely said “I’m just letting you know we will do it for you this time but we won’t be doing it again!”. I was taken back a bit at her hostility over such a simple request but I wanted to understand what changed, so I said “okay, but I don’t understand, what’s the big deal about throwing everything in one container? If I ate inside they would make it mixed with dressing in a bowl and … it’s the price is the same”. She got very rude, her head was bobbling on her neck and she said “we don’t have time and we won’t do it it again, IM. JUST. LETTING. YOU. KNOW”. I’m not doing this review justice as the hostility was more about the stare and the tone then the words but I felt as though I’d just been scolded by a child. The other young girl came back to the window with apology in her eyes and rang me in and I asked for the managers (I’m assuming she was a manager) name and she told me Michaela. Anyway, it’s a restaurant and people ask for alot of custom things at a restaurant I feel. Much more tasking then mixing the ingredients of a salad together. I will not write off this restaurant that I frequent because of one awful experience, however if I return and they in fact won’t mix my $19 salad or I’m am treated with the same disrespect I will not return. I own two businesses and that young lady should not be dealing with customers, I in fact feel bad for...
Read more😡😡I've been going to Swiss Chalet as long as I can remember. ( IM 51) Mom and I go THERE ( Bayers Lake) REGULARLY AND Anyone who knows me can attest to that I ALWAYS ORDER RIBS. ALWAYS. Tonight was no different. I got ribs that were dried up, burnt and rubbery. I told the server to which I got a menu put in my face to order something else as they could assure me that I WOULD GET A BETTER PEICE OF MEAT. I explained that I do not eat the chicken there and never have and that that I really don't know what else I would want as i've never gotten anything there but ribs. I told her I thought that was a very strange response meaning , if I was at a steak house and said my piece of steak was too fatty or dry would you tell me you couldn't promise me a better steak? Anyway she brought me another ribs which were just as bad. I never touched them never ate any. Told her I didn't want those ones. She asked me if our bills were seperate. I looked at mom confused. The manager came over shoved a debit machine in my face with a 23 dollar bill. I told her if you think I'm paying 23 dollars for fries ( that I ate) youre out of your mind. She said they gave me " my replacement meal" and the kitchen manager agreed and he's been there 15 years. lmao...I said WHICH I DIDNT EAT. I TOLD HER I WANTED HER BOSS' NAME and she wrote it down still giving me the bill. I finally left there only paying for the fries upset telling her she should be ashamed at treating regular customers like that and we will never be back. Anyway FB friends, spread this around. Don't go eat there anymore!!! Sad, sad display of service at a restaurant I grew up going to with my Nana and was still going to until now. Shameful.
I hope their behaviour was worth losing 2 regular, lifelong...
