Tasty Kitchen — Restaurant in Halifax

I want to give four stars instead of three because the quality of the food seemed excellent and the owner/chef was so sweet. But regarding the taste of the food - for me that was about a three or so. Unfortunately we really did not like the egg rolls at all. I understand that the meat paste inside them is a Halifax 'thing' but we did not enjoy the flavour or texture. Had the won ton soup - it was very good! Lots of veggies and the broth and wontons were good. Not a fan of shrimp in my soup but I appreciate the thought. We also had the Tasty Fried Noodles. Hubby loved them - but wasn't a fan of the shanghai noodles. If it said on the menu what kind of noodles, he would have ordered the Cantonese noodles instead. One thing that I have to mention was the bathroom was not clean at all - I am glad I saw it after eating rather than before or else it might have...

We had a great experience at Tasty kitchen which is a cantonese Chinese eatery. Simon is the owner and it was a pleasure speaking with him to understand how he started the eatery. The food is delicious and is priced very reasonably as it caters to students and locals nearby. I am glad we found the place and it is no wonder the reviews are excellent.

We ate there on two consecutive evenings. On the second night we bought some fresh seafood (scallops and fish) and Simon has offered to cook them for us. Now how often do you get these type of personalized service?

My partner and I had been looking for a Chinese restaurant with lobster and Simon the owner was so kind to offer to cook lobsters for us if we brought them. Lobster is usually special order and he needs a few days to get the lobster. The green onion and ginger lobster was delicious. We also ordered Cantonese chow mein and the toppings of veggies and meat were so generous. We were so glad to find a restaurant that serves traditional Chinese food. The service was also fast and friendly. Simon shared with us a bit of his chef training and history of Chinese food in Halifax. Definitely our best Chinese food dining...
