I used to love Glitterbean when it opened because there was finally a safe queer cafe space for the community. Love that they have free wifi; sell local bagged coffee, art, baked goods, take-home food, etc.; and that they do vegan/alternative milks. However, since the pandemic, the vibe has really gone downhill. They usually only have one staff working the whole place which means the line gets long and the staff is usually in a bad mood. The prices are quite above average for upscale coffee shops in Halifax. Over $6 plus tax for a cold brew with nothing added. It feels a bit run down now and not cozy and welcoming like it used to be. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always loved the Glitter Bean. It is like the - it is my birthday and I want tea and letās go there kind of place for me- but I sadly do feel that it has really changed since the pandemic and lost its cozy personal vibe. The staff can occasionally be hit-or-miss for speed (think getting distracted and sometimes waiting a few minutes to start your drink, if there's no pressure from a line-up behind you.) but I think that's mostly due to some of them being VERY young and still getting their footing, so I really don't mind. They're also always very friendly and the spot has their 'Queer safe-space' reputation for a reason - its the perfect spot for a...
